I hope this is the sign that the pivot is finally here ... HBCU athletics >>> PWI athletics. HBCUs where made for us and even with the lesser resources due to white supremacy it is still a better option.

Most black people I know that went to undergrad at a PWI don't go back to campus often or follow their school with in-person athletics. At most the Greeks (or Greek groupie) go back for black alumni weeekend which ain't nothing more than a Greek stepshow tailgate style but it excludes most alumni that's not Greek or alumni Greeks not heavy into Greek culture (I know many Greeks who regret pledging or don't want their kids exposed much to it). HBCU athletic events sometimes do put a heavy emphasis on Greek culture but I feel it's always still pretty inclusive of non-Greek alumni as well ... all types of black people (PWI grad, HBCU grad, Greek, Non-Greek) can find them enjoyable and feel at home.

Keep black talent (athletically and academically) in the black community as much as we can.

I'm expecting a bigger turnout for the CB this year. Jackson State should be amazing with the #1 high school recruit and I'm picking SCSU to be back with hopefully stronger talent thanks to the exposure and $$$ from this game ... it should be good!!!

I think we have the opportunity to turn this bowl into a “thing” HBCU culture wise which would attract casual fans who didn’t attend the schools participating. I known quite a few Grambling alums that went to the game this year. More than have in the past when Grambling was involved. I know that’s the case for other schools as well. We just need to keep those numbers up so we can get them to open the top level as well.

That’s what I thought. We need this type of evidence to point to so we can trump these non name brand schools. Our cultures are better environments for the majority of our people. We have the opportunity to use this free advertisement to put that culture on display.

It's a good social and cultural event ... it's much bigger than the participating schools. I enjoyed it.
