Grambling had better numbers than su?! When was the last time that's happened.

Grambling to average mid 16,000s for two true home games is pretty good. Hopefully they can build on that. Remember, the NCAA didn't count anything from the Lynchburg game

Grambling had 18,543 in the house against UAPB (homecoming) and 14,126 at home against Alcorn.

SIDENOTE: I hate how the other FCS schools get to count their home playoff games toward their regular season attendance. It definitely skews things.

No more so than playing only two home games one of which is homecoming skew things.

It skews it down - playoff attendance - since school's woefully under report the attendance and many of games are poorly attended on short notice or during holidays.

On flip side, conference attendance includes neutral site games which skews attendance in favor of SWAC. So goes nothing ways.

You folks have been using that excuse for decades in an attempt to undermine what the swac has accomplish and you haven't and more than likely never will.

You might as well say something as idiotic as "If y'all wouldn't have attended any of your games we would have had better number."

Typically neutral site games are not included in home average. Sometimes, in error, one or two of them slip in there but it's rare.

Sam Houston has built a powerhouse that no one wants to watch it seems.

That's shocking because I saw a news story within the last couple of weeks that said SHSU surpassed 20k students.

20K+ students that exceeds baylor's 16K students. IMHO, shsu is a d-I fbs school cloaked in d-I fcs football game attendance #s. ::read:: That's a WHOOOOOOOOLE lotta' surplus student activity fees for athletics. ::read::

Take SU for example, the SUperdome is classified as SU's 2nd home field( less than a 100 miles from our campus). So SU can count games played in the SUperdome as our home game when we are the home team. We didn't do that this year for somebody strange reason.

According to the Swac's press release they don't...

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) is still number one in attendance for football games.

The SWAC remained the top-attended conference in the NCAA Div.-I Football Championship Series (FCS) for the 2016 season with a total reaching 678,355.

As a league, the SWAC averaged 14,132 in attendance in its 48 home football games, an increase in average of 1,309 per contest.

The Missouri Valley Conference were next in attendance as it drew an average of 11,095 in its 61 home games. The SWAC outnumbered the MVC by over 1,500 in total attendance despite playing in 13 fewer contests.

The Big Sky ranked third with an average of 9,719.

The SWAC has been the FCS leader in attendance in 38 of the previous 39 years and its most highly attended games did not factor into the figures. The Magic City Classic between Alabama A&M and Alabama State drew over 70,000 fans at Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala., the Bayou Classic drew 67,845 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La., and the State Fair Classic between Grambling State and Prairie View A&M drew 53,182 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, TX.

Five schools from the SWAC ranked in the top 20 with Jackson State ranking fourth in attendance among FCS schools (19,660) followed by Grambling State (16,335) in 10th, Alcorn State (14,343) in 13th, Southern (13,678) in 16th and Prairie View A&M (12,194) in 18th.

The SWAC also saw the greatest increase in average attendance (1,309) among all Division I schools including FBS conferences.

:D

Now we need to OWN fcs w/ our ever increasing recruitment and play. The entire SWAC now has facilities & opportunity so there is no excuse for not being competitive OOC. We need to return to our home at the top of the fcs football dominance structure. These recent schools, over the last 30 years, do not belong there as we once dominated everyone.

Magic City Classic 70k?..I guess they corrected that wrong 63k number the SWAC office??? put out.

They only put out what was given to them from the home school in the stat sheet which is turned in to the NCAA.

There is this thing called integration.
Doesn't mean shit to me. It's ridiculously inexcusable for a young man of color to identify with a dabo swinney rather than a Willie Simmons. And for that same young man to identify w/ becky rather than a LaToya, who is pursuing her own degree rather than attempting to simply suck the black off his dick w/ her pending degree in MRS (em-rrah-ess), like becky willfully does.
