Alcorn @ James Madison 5pm
Braves, if you were still celebrating you win against Grambling today at Noon, we might as well stay our asses in Mississippi for this game. This will be one of the toughest, and I mean the toughest, games we play this season. In case you are unfamiliar with James Madison, they are an FCS School that upset then #13 Virginia Tech in 2010 IN THEIR HOUSE. We Will Need to Be PERFECT, I mean PERFECT, in every aspect in the game of football just to give ourselves a shot at winning. A lot of SWAC Alumni will be watching this game not because we beat Grambling, but because they want to know does the SWAC at the very least, have a chance to compete against fellow FCS Schools which may lead to the SWAC eventually playing in the FCS Playoffs. If there is only one thing I want you to take from the Grambling win it is knowing that doing the LITTLE THINGS RIGHT will always give you a shot. Being Perfect within the Simple Fundamentals of Football Will Give You A Chance To Win Nearly Everytime. But Dammit Braves, We Play To Win The Damn Game. Win the Damn Game and Say Yes, I beat a top FCS School. Go Out There And Get The Damn Win.
Alabama A&M @
UAPB 5pm
(With PB Playing At Home and AAMU Fans not Happy with Jones' Offense, I have to go with UAPB In this one. If UAPB jumps ahead by 14 or more points, it could get ugly for AAMU).
Grambling St. @
TCU 6pm
(It is what it is Grambling. We all have to get that Money. Don't feel left out...We here At Alcorn have Our Money Date on Sept. 22...:smh
Jackson St @ Tn State (XXIII So. Heritage Classic, Memphis, Tn) 6pm
(Oftentimes, Pressure from Competition can either improve a player or make him succumb to it. So Far, it appears that Dedric McDonald has used the competition and adversity thrown at him from even his own fellow Jacksonians and alumni to make himself a better football player. TN State had 401 yards of Offense against FAMU last week. If your Defense comes to play and your Offensive Line blocks like they should, I see no reason for JSU to lose to TN State. But JSU, YOU MUST ESTABLISH THE RUNNING GAME. I REPEAT: YOU MUST ESTABLISH THE RUNNING GAME. LET ME SAY IT AGAIN: YOU MUST ESTABLISH THE RUNNING GAME. ONE LAST TIME: YOU MUST ESTABLISH THE RUNNING GAME. Oh, and get your heart medication: I predict this game to go almost identical to TSU vs. PV from Week 1.)
Texas Southern @
U. North Texas 6pm
(Well Guys, Strippers Have To Take Their Clothes Off to Make Money. You just to have give a good Halftime Performance. It is what it is. But it's like I said before to Grambling, Alcorn's Money Date is Sept. 22...:smh
MS Valley St. @
Alabama St. 6pm
(With Valley returning 8 players who didn't play last week due to incompetence on the part of their Administration, I feel that we really didn't see the real 2012 Valley Football Team vs. Concordia. But, I still have to go with Alabama State in this one. Yes, blowing a 21-0 lead is a muthphugga to come back from but that is why the Football Season for most doesn't end until November.)
Prairie View @ Lamar U. 7pm
(PV will shoulder a similar burden like we here at Alcorn will have...Proving to the SWAC Non-FCS Playoff Naysayers that the SWAC can at the very least compete against OOC FCS Schools. Like I have said earlier, PERFECT, SOUND FUNDAMENTAL Football will almost always give you a chance at victory.)
Open
Southen U. (A Most Perfect Time To Have A Bye Week. You are going to need all the rest you can get. Sept. 13 vs. Valley (Home), Sept. 22 vs. JSU (Jackson, MS), Sept. 29 vs. FAMU (Atlanta, GA...I Think You Guys will blow FAMU out in this one), Oct. 6 vs. THE ALCORN BRAVES (Lorman, MS...We Focus On One Opponent at a Time During Their Game Week.
Yep, this bye week couldn't have come at a better time for you. You can record JSU playing TSU while going physically to watch Alabama State vs. Valley. Don't get caught overlooking Valley for the big Sept. 22 Showdown with JSU in the Battle of the Big Kats II. Take it one game at a time.
