Judging from these clips JSU got waxed, TSU's sound was full and JSU's sound was very thin. It all goes back to what I said earlier, seems like some people in the band are not really buying in to Taylor's method in the way he wants the band to sound. Never heard Secret Garden sound that thin before...

I know I expected TSU to push more sound on the field and they didn't. I was in the opposite endzone near the boom and I was shocked at TSU's sound on the field. The Boom was pushing sound for the size. TSU entertained me for the fist time in a long time on the field. Man we lost the game, the field show, and the cheerleaders doing chin ups...SMH

TSU uses mikes on the field all the time. Especially when someone is going to sing. They set them up on the sideline and leave them on so the sound will go through the speakers when the band is facing the stands. Make them sound louder on the field than they are because when the get back to the stands, their volume go from 10 back down to 3 1/2.

This entire topic is funny. Naturally, we think our band out performed the opponents band. So, are you saying the singers in the past for JSU has not used mic's. Doggone, professionals use mic's., so what's the proble with TSU or any othe rband using mic's to sing or play a seperate instrumental solo.

JSU, GRAM, SU, AP has done the same "on the field or attached to the instrument". I bet, Michigan, Stanford, SC and Univ of MS has used mic's depending on the situation.

There is a clear winner in this battle! The true winners were all who had an opportunity to see and hear (online or in person) these two bands.

That being said, all bands (Specifically Band Directors) should be mindful of how important it is to not disrespect the other band by playing while the other band is playing and/or marching, I hated when we did it to other bands and I hate to see it now, such is a disservice to all (fans and band members).

The Boom halftime was no less than one would expect given their great tradition. TnSt halftime was one of the best halftime performances I have seen from them. Both band were good in the stands; however, the "007-Theme Song" played by TnSt caused me to pause and replay.

Again to both bands...Great Job

That 007-Theme Song is pretty much a standard for tenn st. They are known to play that each year at the classic toward the end of the 5th quarter. It is a real nice version of the original song.

Yea I agree, you can tell they aren't comfortable yet. Missing that edge & nastiness of jsu. They do sound alot more clean and balanced though.

I'm suprised nobody has commented on the screaming trumpets not hanging over anymore...
Good job to both bands!
