Jafus,

Please explain this. This is the first time I have heard of this.

ESPN does not have this on the site.

GRAM4LIFE,

I apologize. I should have realized that all the fans in this area would automatically start seriously looking into making plans to attend.

The BCS finally works.

Who in the hell decided to give FORT WORTH a bowl. I would be highly pissed off if I worked my arse off all year long just to end up in a bowl game in Fort Worth. And don't let me get started on Shreveport.

Where have you been? The Independence bowl is over 25 years old. They've had a bowl in Ft Worth for about 3 or 4 years now. It's no worse than going to Boise, ID or Mobile.

I know the Inpendence Bowl has been around, that still doesnt make it good. And your right about the others. How about the powers that be come together to get all the bowl games in fun cities. That'll add fuel to to the game.

Truth be told, many of those teams that go the lower-tier bowls actually go for the support of their teams. If it's not a situation like Troy going way out to Las Vegas or wherever they went last year for their bowl, they actually travel well. They don't give a hoot in Hades about the number of strip joints, parties, step shows, etc., or how many holiday sales they can take advantage of. They go to support THEIR TEAMS.

I love bowl season. I am so looking forward to that Southern Mississippi vs Arkansas State game in the fantastic New Orleans Bowl from Lafayette, Louisiana. :vomit: :vomit: That is a must see.

The lower-teir bowls diss out a minium of $750,000 per team. This is enough to basically cover the expenses to get the team there and back, plus the band, cheerleaders, etc. The teams that go to these bowl games do want it because it gives them an extra game for the season. Its sort of like the post season NIT in basketball.

It also gives them additional practice time. Very key to working on prep time for game as well as giving coaches time to continue to evaluate personel for the next season.

We all know that Oregon got ripped off.

Oregon did not get ripped off, they're right where they're supposed to be, in the bowl for the 2nd place team in the Pac-10. Don't let that 10-1 record fool you, they aren't as good as Notre Dame or Ohio State, who got the at large BCS bids. They benefitted from playing in a weaker conference and having a pretty weak non-conference schedule overall. They wouldn't have gone 9-2 playing either Ohio State's or Notre Dame's schedule.

ALAMO BOWL
San Antonio
Dec. 28, 8 p.m. (ESPN) Michigan (7-4) vs. Nebraska (7-4)

There was a time not long ago a Michigan-Nebraska bowl matchup would have meant something..... :redhot:

Tell that to the University of Houston players who waiting by the phone and television to view if they were awarded a bowl bid for the seniors after missing out the year before.
