This match-up is so big that ESPN asked if the schools could move the game from Friday to Thursday so that it could broadcast the game nationally.

Tonight on ESPN 2 @ 8:30pm CT.

Both of these schools are in the Dallas area.

For those of you who don't know about Southlake Carroll High School, their football facilities are so top notch even the Dallas Cowboys asked if they could use their indoor practice facility for a practice session a couple of years ago.

Yeah they did. My nephew plays DE for Denton Ryan's JV team. I too think Carroll maybe too much, but I am rootin for Ryan just because my nephew goes there. He is pretty excited about the game too.
 
G, we will have to go to one of these Texas high schools games. I know the facilities would make your jaw hit the ground, but I have to see if this Texas ball shapes up to what we do in the River Parishes. ;)

What is Dallas Carter's rival again? Did these two teams play?

Dallas Carter's rival is Dallas Kimball. They played the 2 week of the season. Carter won 21-7. They call the game the OCSB (Oak Cliff Super Bowl) - LOL!!!
But the play the game in N. Dallas at Loos Field House. They can no longer play the game in Oak Cliff at Sprague Stadium.

The new 30k seat stadium that DISD is building will be ready for next season.

Yeah, they have been on the duece 2 or 3 times already this year. Just last Friday they were on the duece. I think I posted it in a topic about "High School Going Big Time".
 
They were saying on the news this morning that if you wanna catch this game, you may as well grab a seat on the couch, because that mofo is SOLD OUT ...
 
Was the whole game on there or just some highlights? I have seen HS hi-lites on ESPN2 but not a game since last year. Didn't they show the Evangel game when they went to Cali last year?

I like how ESPN shows a few HS fball & bball games a year. I know they are only exploiting the schools or players for their benefit but at least you get to see some ball. I'm sure Friday Night Lights ain't hurting for them to bite off of them in their edition of "Thursday Night Lights".

Season tickets (passes) are becoming a norm now for HS I think. My son's HS has it and you even get reserved seating in the section from 40 to 40.
 
Dodge got those boys clicking! He was destined for this type fame.

During his PA HS days, he and Duhon were KILLING everybody w/ that air attack. :shame: They shattered almost every 5A offensive record known outside of rushing back then. :(

*reflecting* Ryan is way overrated this year. I'd be surprised if they stay w/in 30-40 pts of Southlake. Nice facility that Ryan has. Too bad they pay more attention to athletics than academics in DISD. :emlaugh: Duuuuuhhhhh....lol

I am glad you said this, because I had a chance to see them player earlier this year against Keller. Ryan has some weapons on offense, but their defense is very suspect. Now keep in mind they are new to 5A and have managed to hold their own, but Carroll may drop "dem thangs" on them tonight.

On the 4A level Ryan would dominate, but they have not been dominate at all in games this year at the 5A level.

But that is why they play the game.
 



Ahhh okay....I was sitting here thinking, Man I missed that! Maybe it was regional or something cause all I was getting was WSOP shows. Tried to play it off and tell myself I was at a game that's why I missed it. But allright Fox.. okay.

ESPN2, FSN all the same thing...right Frat??? :swink:

That old Mutha ain't fell down yet....man I can still remember SOC & VELT battles from the 70's, and Sprague was old then!!!
 
I almost forgot that Ryan is now 5A. band fan and myself saw them play a weak Dallas Lincoln and they were not impressive or dominant like in years past. At the 4A level, they'd make a lot of noise considering the size/speed of the team. Once that new DISD school is finished next year, that too will lessen the # of quality athletes that are concentrated in one DISD school (3 of them).

Dodge got those boyz (SLC) playing each and every year. I'm envious because he was destined for that. He came from a very tradition rich program that emphasized winning. I lost tabs on Duhon (WR) though. Dodge was actually a QB back in the day. He has that killer and MUST WIN mentality. All former QBs have it. ;)

The stronger than norm 5A teams in Tx now are: Katy lol, The Woodlands, Southlake, Tyler (can never count them out), Lufkin, OP lol.

No pass-No play keeps the REAL athletes from competing. lol

Add Galena Park North Shore to that list. David Aymond has built himself a powerhouse program over there. I remember him as a 24yrold JV coach at Opelousas High School in Louisiana in 1973-1974. You would have never thought that he had it in him then. :xeye:

I remember Aymond being the head baseball coach in the late 70's at Opelousas Senior High.
