Bama State fans. What in the world has happened to the vaunted Bama St volleyball program? The last few years have been off.
SWAC play 0 and 5 this year.

Well we are seeing that the coach they hired last year doesn't really have it. They won last year with the recruits the previous coach left and I could have won with that team. This years team is all on the new coach and it's showing.

The team has gone down hill.

I hope to get to see them in person this week.

When did they hire a new coach?

Of course the two games I watched the won. They looked better against JSU than they did against MVSU. They beat MVSU with ease, but JSU was stronger competition. We have AAMU coming up on Wednesday at home, I was hoping it would be at the Acadome, but its scheduled for Lockhart Gym, it should be interesting. This will be a better SWAC test.

Volleyball Trio Pick Up Conference Honors in Hornets Perfect Weekend

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Alabama State University women's volleyball team cruised to a pair of wins this past week, and three of the team's catalysts – setter Kamrynn Clay, middle blocker Alexis Williams and libero Mirra Riddle – were recognized by the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) with weekly honors, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

Clay and Riddle collect their third weekly recognitions of the season, with the former named SWAC Setter of the Week for the third time and the latter named SWAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after opening the year with the conference's first Newcomer of the Week award. This week, that honor would go to Williams, who has come on strong lately and earned her first weekly honor since transferring from Southeastern Oklahoma State. These honors come on the heels of two pivotal home victories against Mississippi Valley State and Jackson State, the team's first two conference victories of the season.

Clay had one of her best weeks of the season, recording a combined 75 assists across seven sets, averaging nearly 11 assists per set while assisting on a 97.4 percent success rate. Her best performance came in a four-set outing against Jackson State, as she contributed 49 assists while adding seven digs in a 3-1 victory.

The Saint Hedwig, Texas, native continues to have a strong grip at the top of the conference's setter statistical leaderboards, retaining the top spot in total assists (614) and assists per set (8.41) while maintaining her career-best mark that is over a half assist per set better than her SWAC Setter of the Year campaign a season ago.

Smaller venues are just better for volleyball… we played Bama State in the Event Center and had a HBCU volleyball record breaking crowd of almost 2500… in Elmore it would have rocked. We have a different floor down for volleyball and basketball… so the first half of the season we were playing in the Event Center…. Now that basketball season is in the floor was switched out so the remainder of the games are in Elmore. The team prefers Elmore.

I agree, especially after last night. Lockhart was rocking!!!

The AKAs and 100 men in suits showed up and showed out! The Kappa's and another sorority were there. It was PACKED! All Hornets had a good time. The volleyball team played well, I was impressed with the number of successful digs after powerful hits by AAMU. I hope they keep up this level of play.

High-Energy Night Sees Volleyball Claim Four-Set Victory Over Alabama A&M

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – In a return to the friendly confines of Lockhart Gymnasium, lively bunches of fans packed the sidelines as the Alabama State University women's volleyball team welcomed the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) leading Alabama A&M to town and defeated the Bulldogs, 3-1 Wednesday evening in the first of three conference matchups this week.

The Hornets (5-16, 3-5 SWAC) had this game circled against its neighbors up north, and while the Bulldogs (14-9, 7-2 SWAC) held the top spot in the SWAC coming into Montgomery, the Black and Gold ran them out of town with a heart-pounding four-set contest. AAMU claimed the opening set, 25-18, while ASU turned things around with wins of 27-25, 28-26 and a lengthy, 35-33 final set that made it worth the wait and price of admission in the end.

Shout out to them Hornets… they looked like a totally different team from when I saw them in person earlier in the season. They kicked our arse yesterday. We got to work on those service errors… We had over 15!

Some of those were are critical points in games.

I was impressed with ASU lack of service errors until the last set, I think the pressure got to them.
