Rice university athletics called me yesterday to offer $124 season football tix.

No parking on dirt or grass, all concrete and asphalt.

Gameday parking team always does well to direct with politeness.

No semi-haphazard gameday operations lol.

Large venue with plenty of space.

Concessions fully automated and packaged nicely so NO long line or wait lmao. Intriguing to watch 20+ people "working" (not) in a concession area and only ~11 people in a line waiting on trash assed nachos and a pepsi for well over 12-15 minutes. (not hearsay, I timed the stupid shit because I'm an engineer and that's what we do - identify waste and inefficiency w/ no positive experience or ROI)

Rice's gameday festivities are decent and well thought out, considering.

My loyalty is NEVER to "black," when "black" is giving cow shit and attempting to smile in your face and call it good bullshit, healthy for you to line my pockets.

As a Jackson State University graduate, I wish that they would see the value of reasonable season ticket prices again. You would think that filling the stands with fans would be a goal. The players work harder and thrive with confidence when they look out and see supporters filling the stadium. Bring back low general admission season tickets prices NOW! Instead of generating less income due to low prices, you will generate more based on volume! Do it for the Culture! TheeILove!

As a Jackson State Graduate, I just want decent stadium operations. Hell, the ticket prices went up and service got worst. People will never convince me that it is that hard to order adequate amount of bottle water so that we dont run out of water by end of first quarter.

Thank you. We were in Jackson last year for the Bama State game and they ran out of water. People were passing bags of ice to each other on the visitors side.. I pay $200 for parking and $1200 for club seating. General admission tickets are $35 at the New Hornets Stadium in Montgomery.

Brother, I was there too. I snuck in a water bottle with ice. They ran out of water. Some young people broke down a door and found a pallet of expired water. I dont encourage crime but I shole walked in behind those young people and grabbed me two bottles.

It's amazing how these HBCU have all these issues yet i don't see them taking the initiative to reach out to those in attendance to see how they can improve on services and atmosphere. I want to see schools like JSU start preparing early for those games to make sure they dont be caught in similar situations. Same can go for SU with the ticketing check in process.

I was pissed too. The part that makes me mad is they didn't communicate with us about the prices going up. HBCU's have bad communication with their alumni. At some point the arrogance has to change.
They got out the info early this year so tailgaters would have advanced notice of the price and other changes.

No they did not. They hide the information then released it after it got out. I no first hand. They didn't want the information out but it leaked out so they had to release it. I like Dr. Bryant, but I tell it like it is. He can be a bit arrogant. It was not done the correct way. They could have told people this last year. There are many people like me who buy our spots on our own not in groups. There is a way to do any and everything it's called communication. The truth is if 80% of the people working at or running our HBCU's worked outside of academia they would be fired. We have an MBA program and a marketing degree undergrad. Why not make those students do real world work and come up with ideas for the collective! It's called getting an education for a reason. I still get emails for UAB and Vanderbilt from when I bought tickets for those games when we played them. I get more information from their athletic departments then I do a school I support. We gotta stop making excuses. When it is ran like a ninja business we need to call it out.

Those prices include two general admission tickets to the game and a donations to the collective.
I bought my spot. Have been in the spot for 25 years. I buy it because I may fuss but I will support the school, but the truth is 1500 is too much for a tailgate spot. Especially for a mediocre team. Now I have no problem with them making people buy tickets to enter the tailgate spot. It should have been done a long time ago in my opinion.

Our institutions are not run by strict business practices or principles because they are not run by business people. They are run by people with academic backgrounds in other disciplines, most often with little or no business academic background or business experiences. They also usually have staffs without professional business acumen. They often don't recognize opportunities to improve the schools, don't understand the necessity of long term planning and how to do long term fund raising. But they are the people hired to run the schools and we are stuck with their limitations.

But the info about the tailgating increase is out now. This is probably as early as the athletic department has ever given notice about changes. They did not hide anything. They could not have given any specific info on price increases last year because they had just completed the new policies and price scales before the release this year.

I don't buy a tailgating spot so I am not affected by those increases. I do buy multiple season tickets packages with reserve seating spots and buy multiple skybox seats. I already paid increased prices for the reserve seats and expect the same for skybox seats. I bought parking passes along with the season tickets.

Come on bruh HBCU's are run by cliques and frats/sororities. lol I have been around A&M for 30 plus years. Grew up around Clark, Morris Brown, Morehouse and Spelman and they are the same way. Love my school and I will buy regardless but I will call them out. I don't turn my head and act like everything is good. The only way to improve is to call them out. I don't accept mediocre frat/soro clique stuff. I am not apart of them and they mean nothing to me, but A&M does.

I am not making any excuses; I am just making a point about how they are run. I have said for a long time that the presidents of modern universities should be business people or academics with lot of business experiences. That person should be spending most of their time out meeting with groups of people or organizations that could become major donors, and have an assistant running the day to day business operations. The provost should be an academic person be making the day to day decisions regarding academic and accreditation issues.

I'm trying to fathom why the powers that be in the athl dept/ticket office constantly attempt to hammer the few core fans @ the home venue.

I have NEVER received bad or horrible treatment at other schools' venues. The home venue? Blood pressure straight through the roof.

Damn Cee, that seems to be the consensus across the board.
