Greek people, step in here please

Why is this type of shit still going on? I had nothing against Greek organizations when I was in school, but seeing my roommate beaten the fuck up and bruised coming back to the room at 5am is why I refused to even consider it. Exactly what part of brotherhood is this? Help me understand.

My freshman year, the Ques and the Deltas were kicked off the yard for hazing. It seems to almost always be the old heads coming back to participate that take it too far.

Well, I will say that as a Man of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity INC. I think we as a whole in the Fraternity and Sorority world take things too far. There is a process, but there is a limit on what should be done during the process. My prayers are with the young man's family and friends. The bruhz that did this to him have to face the consequences of their actions. It will definitely hurt our Fraternity, but we have to start monitoring those that are in charge of these lines.

The problem is no matter how many people get hurt or killed it will never stop. It's ingrained in the minds of some people you ain't real unless you take severe azz whippings. The problem is everyone isn't meant to be in an organization and to take it a step further everyone isn't meant to be a section leader/ dean of pledges or leadership role in any organization. Those positions take responsibility and the courage to say no and stand up for what's correct. Not about pleasing rouge people in the organization.

As a fellow member of Omega Psi Phi, this is a very sad story and so unnecessary. I'm not sure how to address the issue of excessive things that happen during pledging even though they know that jail time awaits violators, what other deterrents can we put in place? I'm so saddened for the young man's family, I can't feel sorry for those that will go to jail or worry about the fate of that chapter at SU. They crazy thing is the massive problems this will rightfully cause the fraternity nationally. I just hate this, we can't apologize to his family enough. smh

I saw his mama crying during that funeral and it almost broke me. This is a sad situation all around. Hitting him in the chest with boxing gloves. I would say I hope this makes changes in the way the d9 operates but truthfully, it wont.

I know! A young kid lost his life that was going to do great things in his life and for our fraternity. I'm hoping that this is a wake up call to all fraternities and sororities to make changes in how pledging occurs.

As far a deterrents, I don't really have an answer. Some people are going to continue to do crazy things. Maybe when these men go to jail, that will make people realize how their actions can cause them to go to jail.
