Brag on a “Spring Covid Championship” then got that azz tapped the next season against the Blue Bloods of the SWAC
Pank Scooter After talking that good 🤬
I get paid to win swac games but finish 4-7

HBCUs are jucos , but your own players and former players are speaking out against that garbage statement.

The issue with what he said is the HBCUs will WASTE time developing players that should have been developed in high school and P5 can come and get them at will.

That is how low a HBCU coach thinks of HIS players and HBCUS-that they should be farm systems for other schools?

If I was a P5 I might be OFFENDED-is he implying P5 can't develop players? And they can't recruit?

Why would a P5 want a player from 1-10 Delta Devil when they can get a transfer from 8-5 Appalachian State team? Who has played in 8 straight Bowl games.

If you have that LOW of an opinion of HBCUS and even YOURSELF-you shouldn't be working at a HBCU.

It is NOT the SWAC's job to build up PWI.

The issue with this statement - and those who don't see a problem with what he said is - this is not JUST HBCU's that are getting hit by P5 schools. He statement is implying that P5's come after HBCU talent - P5's are coming for EVERYONE talent. Damn near entire Ohio State team in the portal lol - is their quarterback going to a FCS team or a G5? Hell naw, he is going to another P5, just like the majority of P5 that actually started or received significant playing time. P5 will come for "standout" FCS/HBCU talent that they can cherry pick, others in the portal either end up making a lateral move, a downward move, staying put, or in portal purgatory.
 
One of those things things that's best said in private. However, what he said is happening everyday. Recruiting is a nasty business. Like I mentioned in an earlier post. PWI'''s are still recruiting mostly high school players with development in mind. HBCU's are recruiting transfers for a quick fix. You would be surprised at what happens behind the recruiting scenes .
 
Seems like a reasonable statement to me. Players are getting poached at the good G5 schools & bad P5's so what can you expect for the FCS schools? Until they rectify the tampering issues in the portal (from a DII, FCS, and G5 perspective), this is a normal recruiting pitch in 2023 that a lot of coaches use behind closed doors. We cant get mad that he said the quiet part out loud. It's not 1998 anymore, we cant solely recruit off the strength of loyalty and school pride how we once did and expect to retain this new generation of student athletes.

It’s hard to argue with someone who is IN the recruiting game. It’s easy for the outsiders who only the tweets to say one thing… but if you are coach or a parent IN the game you look at things much different than outsiders.
