Jay Walker says Southern, Grambling, Texas Southern are taking too long to name a coach

I'm not so sure about that, after Chennis Berry signed all the dominoes should have fell.
the same candidates are in all the pools but the school has to want to choose from them - with Southern off the books now those guys will beg for TSU

the schools are hiring in order of the firings lol

First the schools are entitled to take the time the need. The mistake our AD made was giving a timetable when the hire would take place.

Let’s be honest….GSU has to get it right because we hire a proven loser as head coach who in my opinion was stealing money as a coach.

With the portal you can take more time now - the good high school kids that fall through the cracks will be available in February and then you have a new batch of portal kids

How many teams have lived and died out the portal and ain't busted a grape?

Jay Walker needs content to talk about. Get it right TSU. The are plenty of good athletes in houston. JUst get to the state championship games in Dallas. Thats my timetable

I think Jay called the Harding/Lenoir Rhynes game last Sat.

Maybe next time you have him on you could ask him about the feasibility of some of our schools changing our offensive systems to something like the Flexbone like Harding runs. Or a more pro-style offense. Anything but the spread bs everyone is running.

I've long held that the spread all of our teams are running is one of the main reasons we see so much bad football on a weekly basis. Especially at the QB position. I believe most of these coaches, FBS included, don't even understand what they're doing.

That Harding team is tough, fundamentally sound, and very physical. The way they looked I wouldn't be at all surprised if they'd beat a good many of our schools if we were to play, and badly. They blew Lenoir Rhynes out last week and will play for the D2 championship this week. They set the rushing record last week, rushing for over 5000 yds this season. I believe the commentator said they switched to the Flexbone back in 2010. They had losing seasons in '10 and '11, but they've been rolling forreal ever since and haven't had another losing season.

Such a fantastic point. I've always thought that run-blocking is less nuanced and a lineman could contribute more easily (and faster).

Kennesaw State (FCS) had good success running the triple option before their coach left for an FBS position.

They threw 54 passes this year with 829 rushing attempts 😂 and are undefeated.

Pride and ego won't allow some of these coaches to look in the mirror lol

Most teams run a 4-2-5 or hybrid 3-3-5 defense to combat the spread nowadays which probably plays a big factor in that. 20 years ago everyone was in a 3-4 which made it harder on teams to run your traditional flexbone or power run oriented offenses with a lot of guard pulls and double teams. Its slowly but surely making its way back especially with the clock stoppage changes and more teams having an issue throwing the ball downfield consistently.

Read the agenda - McKinney's contract expires tomorrow - for tsu to offer the job with terms to anyone they'll need a board approved contract
