The 82nd Magic City Classic

Understood, but just because you can do it on your own, it doesn't mean that you should.
These dudes trippin lol. Aint no way in hell you get even half what amount for a replacement game. This is shitty business. I could see if you'd already replaced the game but waiting until NOW to refuse to respond is trash business.

Sounds good but if this game gets cancelled this year, what game are you going to replace it with that gets a mil lol.
Life aint easy lol sometimes sacrifices have to be made for the greater good of not having to deal with the ASC anymore...A&M isnt obligated to doing business with the ASC

ahhhhh yes , magic city classic. Curious ? And maybe I’m behind the eight ball on this information, but has stadium issues been resolved for the foreseeable future since they want to tear down legion ?

They didn't make it as large as it is on their own before. Granted before the event team took over MCC was a big deal event.. But, next contract time exclude them if the city will let you.

They can't sell merchandise with our name on it. This is what this is about. Not the game
There is more A&M merch out there than a little. They just got the minority sporting goods store on board this year, and they sold more than the book store and Walmart.

What game do you play in place of it where you're going to make a million guaranteed? And why are they refusing to respond to the folks? If that game gets cancelled good luck convincing the students and the majority of alumni that it was actually a good idea.
UK, take the emotion out of the conversation and concentrate on the business. I ask you these questions, why is JSU no longer playing Tennessee State in Memphis? Why was the Bayou Classic moved to Houston at one time? You are concentrating on the million; however, AAMU is focusing on several million. Are you aware of what the ASC is making off of the Magic City Classic? Again, this is business, nothing personal.

Because the city of New Orleans was in no shape to host the BC due to Hurricane Katrina.

If Jackson State was getting 1.5 million from Memphis (which my math suggests we actually did but thats another topic), we wouldn't have left.
Everyone knows I think AAMU is smalltime but if they pull this off, I will have to create a new name for them.

One thing I have learned about black folks tho. They always count income but not expenses. Also, they are not asking where the payout is coming from. They are distributing $2M. How much do they get off merchandise? Yall act like if a T-shirt costs $35, they are getting the entire $35. Where is the $2M distribution coming from? 60K tickets at $30 each is only $1.8M and the game is not the only expense those people have.

Who pays for the team travel (lodging, meals, busses, etc...)?
Who pays for game, parade, and other event security? Does an external company handle parking, concessions, tailgating, etc..?
Who pays to paint the field? Who pays game day staff? Printed material?

I'm assuming the city doesn't charge to rent the facility, etc...

Does AAMU have the CAPACITY to take the lead of an event of large magnitude?

You could have ended the conversation at that point. So there was something funny with the math, not getting what you deservd, not knowing about the actual bottom line etc.. Remember, Coach Prime had questions about your math at games in Jackson as well.

Coach Prime didn't have questions about our games in Jackson. You didnt hear the whole interview. You acting like these "other folks". He was merely giving an example. BUT also, that was not what I was saying about Memphis. I will have to look more into but if we got 1.5M, we got what we deserved. I cant be certain tho. Maybe some of the money was broken up over years.

BUT can you BAMAs who are jeopardizing your ONLY money game answer these questions?

TP,

Coach Prime said he was seeing 60,000 in the stands and the tickets came back like 30,000 for home games.

Now, if you got what you deserved in Memphis that is awesome. However, Coach Prime disagreed with you and JSU is no longer participating in that game.

Unfortunately, there are risk anytime you deal with outside agencies and finances. However, there is a team led by the AAMU President, legal counsel, financial gurus etc. over seeing this endeavor.

If we are jeopardizing our only money game then there will be consequences for failure. If we are successful, then we celebrate.

PS: I along with several members of the JSU alumni were extremely upset on how 60 minutes portrayed the great city of Jackson, Mississippi. Especially that house. I guess we all have our issues

Street committee math has taken over AAMU, I have avoid this topic because self destruction is inevitable. The possible future is that AAMU will host when they are home, ASU will play the home game in Birmingham. The street committee has been busy in the internet with ASU for years, fortunately the university officials have not fallen into the street committee trap. I have tried to talk math and finance with ASU people to have them explain to me how you make more money with less than half the capacity (double the ticket prices), less money from sponsorships (they don't get that you get less money with fewer people) and you have the full cost of hosting every other year. Its like the orange kool aid drinkers, once they have consumed the kool aid, facts and math are irrelevant. Dont waste your time. When reality hit, they will have another street committee issue.
