"I'm SWAC; He ain't SWAC"

On a serious note I owe JSU a thank you.
Let me explain.

Yesterday was my pops first game back in the stadium since the pandemic started. He's been a season ticket holder but hasn't been back. During the pandemic he was diagnosed with 2 cancers. He had both of them treated and even had to have a kidney removed. He's been recovering and getting stronger but this is the first game he was motivated to come out to. I was supposed to be there with him but my son has sickle cell, had a crisis and ended up hospitalized here in south carolina.
Despite the loss he had a good time being back out and watching a well played football game. So thanks.

Lastly, I hope we're all on the same page about this, but I'll say it. None of this matters. The game, the rivalries. It's entertainment for most of us. It's an opportunity to get an education and perhaps more for those actually involved, but for the rest of us, it's something to distract from the rest of life. I get a bit concerned with the level of seriousness I perceive *hopefully it's just my perception* we put on this. This isn't real life. last week an alcorn football player lost his mom & sister to a car accident following the game. that's real. the game is secondary & the outcome trivial.

almost 30 years ago I made a decision to attend a hbcu. I love the fact that when I've run into hbcu and swac alumni I know I can look at them as family. here in clemson I've run into southern and bama state alumni attending grad school and told them if you need anything find me. jsu sent a group of kids up and I found them at the walmart (the only one at the time) and had to check them out. we can fuss and fight about the game but know that's all it is. we've got to have each other beyond that. It's why I let jsu coaches know about a kid this summer, that they offered the same day. It is the thing that makes us different than pwis. they don't have any love for each other. clemson fans don't give a flip for fsu, or duke or none of them and it's mutual.

so the next time you make your, all y'all hate us post, know it's only true while there is time on the clock.

Archie Cooley, Marion Casem, WC Gorden and Big John Merritt did it, only difference, today we have many egos and social media outlets.
Right. I heard some of these new so call SWAC fans talking about the trash talking amongst the players and the coaches is a bad look for highly rated High school players and their families and they will not want to attend HBCU'S. FOH, they haven't be trying to attend HBCU's since master allowed them to sharecrop their lands in the 70's. I went to Mississippi State for grad school and their student sections are way worse than any HBCU fanbase or student section. It is just another excuse to for highly rated players and their families to continue to cultivate the crops on massa plantation. All the publicity we are getting for schools and teams competing and trying to the dethrone the Champs is always good and got the SWAC trending on all social media platforms. You can't buy that publicity if you wanted to.

So in his opinion.

Is Eddie G. Robinson SWAC?
I think... think... what he meant is people that u first associate with the swac. Eddie g. robinson he gave as an example of being swac b/c we all know him for what he did at the G. w. c. gordon, casem, the wiz, him, walter payton, jerry rice, lindsey. if he sticks around his name can become synonymous with jsu and the swac but it's not right now. that's what I took his comment to mean.

What he said was dumb. Nonsensical

And based on this ^^^^^^ philosophy, PV and SU should be RICH after this weekend. Especially after the controversy video that is out before the game kicked off

Now … what I posted was intended to mock some of the sentiment that this and the PV/SU shenanigans are actually GOOD for the conference because it creates chatter … and the false belief that all publicly is good publicity.

In actuality, both are differing levels of shameful behavior.

Coaches have huge egos, and the Prime/Robinson thing happens a lot more often than people think. As long as it’s not John Chaney lunging at John Calipari LOL

Players getting into a pregame fight — risking injury — playing hours before risking physical harm is down right stupid. Should’ve known something was up with all the chirping.

Refs swallowed the flags when Howard taunted the DB after scoring. Only when Newsome and James got into is when the refs flagged the foolishness.

In actuality, the Jimbo/Saban thing has more juice due to the backstory.

We (as blacks) can't keep doing what those other people do. We're NOT them and will not be judged like them. We HAVE to do better. For the next generation

.
Which is why it's hard to understand all the sanctimonious reaction in response to what happened. lol. The whole thing is hilarious.

Jake Gaither was famous for saying “kill a mosquito with an axe”. He showed little mercy, I witnessed some of them. Coach Prime is the SWAC and I am happy for that. We all should be. I hate that he has our number but you have to give him credit for elevating the marketing value of the conference. Also, more pro scouts at SWAC practices. Coach Prime is a good man but highly competitive and will do what it takes to win, especially in recruiting.
The rest of the conference has to get better and we will.
