Deion Sanders calls HBCU money games ‘ultimate sellout’ in rant about continued practice

Nothing in @TvSportsGuy21’s response answered @MetroPhillyTiger’s question of should we stick with less money than what we are worth tho. I assume you believe we should get less money too, since that’s the “norm”? … that’s the point of his question
You've inspired me to write a book called "College Athletics for Dummies." (And, respectfully, I'm not calling you a dummy.) But there is a really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really ... did I say, "really" simple solution to the bullshit narrative Deion Sanders is trying to pass off as an HBCU issue.

If you want to make FBS money, simply become a gott damn FBS institution. Period! It's what App State did. It's what Georgia Southern did. And it's what Marshall did.

But as it stands now, Jackson State is an FCS institution. And per the agreements that your school signed to play Texas State and UL-Monroe in 2023 and 2024, you agreed that your worth is $375K when you play Texas State and $350K when you play ULM.

I can't make it any simpler.

What was he wrong about from an administrative perspective? That we should get less money?
I never said that he is wrong about the administrative perspective. Basically, what I said is that Coach Sanders can only speak on so much and he's been talking on the media calls about these items. But here's a QUESTION: "How are Coach Sanders' convos going with Ashley Robinson & President Tommy Hudson about these scheduling issues?" He has yet to mention that publicly.

Also, Coach Sanders doesn't have the power to negotiate any of these game contracts like his Athletic Director and President.

I also said that there are LEVELS to the payouts when it comes to P5 FBS programs playing FCS teams like the ones in the SWAC and FBS Group of Five teams. The standing rate for FCS program payouts from FBS teams runs between $350,000-$500,000. If you get more like Southern did with LSU last week (then that's a plus and a tip of the hat has to go to the Southern ADMINS).

Some P5 programs may listen to FCS programs when they ask for more money, but it doesn't mean that the P5 programs will actually work it out.
But if we follow Dr. McClelland's plan of eventually moving to the FBS level in a number of years, then the payouts against Big Schools will increase.

FYI, The Tennessee State - Notre Dame scenario has more tied to it. Plus Notre Dame doesn't have a conference to listen to when it comes to who they play or pay.

All you’re doing is typing what we already know. That’s not what I asked nor discussing but it’s obvious you’re missing that point on purpose.

Thanks for all you do Kenn 😁

Coach Sanders is entitled to his opinion. He mentioned UNC FAMU payout but did not mention that JSU’s stadium is larger than UNC’s 50,500 seat stadium. Coach Sanders is a major influencer and maybe his words can cause larger payouts.

Coach Sanders needs to collect intelligence before he weighs in on issues:)

Cool. Just asking for clarity. Not sure why I get jumped for that lol.

I don't know why some folks can't understand concepts like two things can be true at the same time.

Obviously, school administrators have to set schedules in advance so there's nothing you can do about that. But, if you lowball yourself then you have to cutback by doing thing like leaving the band at home.

So, folks can say that's your worth but it can also be too low.

I could say the same about Willie Simmons before playing JSU
Gott Damn! 😆

Let's keep that same energy when Southern drills VUL for Homecoming

Well in those instances, you must know your worth. Which is what Coach Prime is saying. I am sure that Valley makes $0.00 during the football season after game day expenses. So if they go somewhere and come back with $150-200K, that's a good deal for them. I think Valley needs to take that SHC deal if presented. You are about to have BIG 10 schools and SEC schools making 100M a year off TV revenue..not including ticket sales, sponsorships, etc... Yeah, I need about $1.5M for JSU to go on the road for those conferences.

Where I disagree with Coach Prime is that the money should NOT go to the football program. A percentage, yes! Why? For example, MS Valley has a $6M athletic budget. JSU has a $12M athletic budget. NEITHER department makes even close to that. So where is this money coming from. It comes from the schools overall budget.

Look into your respective schools and find out how much they paid out to NCAA Div. II, III, NAIA and lower opponents.

Again, that is when it comes to knowing your worth. Maybe TxSO only needs a low payout because nobody comes to the games. If an NAIA school gets a $100K check, it may be worth it to them. Campbell is coming to JSU with no return game. Im sure they dont make a profit at home because they only hold 5K. So we can give them a check and make them happy. TNState is ok with the SHC because they average 3K at home. Years ago, when JSU wanted to pull out the SHC, I said then that Fred Jones needed to increase JSU's payout by $200K and leave TNState at $350K. That would have kept both parties happy.

This is hilariously funny!

He has to do a better job of framing his arguments and stop making these blanket Southern Baptist feet washing statements without any context whatsoever.

He looks and sounds nuts to sane people when talks without knowing what he is talking about.

He knows exactly what he's talking about. He stated we gonna kick y'all arse and it ain't gone be close. 🤷🏾‍♂️
