Are you serious or have you just been trolling the whole time? Six of the last seven coaches, interim or otherwise, were brought in without influence from the president's office.

you talking to him or me? He said president's office had influence.

Interesting! No way a Bama State President/adm would give that much power to the AD. Our president and BOT have to sign off on all major hires.

I know what has been typed in this thread raises eyebrows for some, but the truth is for a long time our administrations have taken a nonchalant approach to football. Many times signing off on head football coach hires has been a mere act of rubbing stamping and pushing the paper-work along. The one time a president did get involved, unfortunately, the involvement was too heavy handed.

or AD having any influence at all -
That's just plain unintelligent. What is the ADs job if not finding, vetting, and hiring coaches to move the athletic programs forward?

Looks like Texas Tech has a posting for an athletic Director:

The role of an athletic director is to manage all facets of an athletic program, including scheduling, hiring coaches, promoting programs and events, ordering equipment, constructing budgets, and facilitating operations. Athletic directors also often help fundraise events and supervise sports personnel.

I've seen numerous presidents make their own picks or told an AD what to do based on something

I've seen numerous ADs make their personal picks and they went down the flames with them also

pick your poison
