The city of New Orleans enacted new rules last week for indoor arenas and entertainment venues that require anyone attending a Saints game at the Superdome to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of kickoff.

Masks also will be required.

“We are committed to doing everything we can in the current environment to protect your health and safety while at the same time providing the best game day experience in the NFL,” the Saints told their fans. “We understand some will be frustrated, as are we, that we find ourselves in this position.”

Tulane, a private college in the Big Easy and member of American Athletic Conference, said it will have the same vaccination and testing requirements to attend its home sporting events, even though its football stadium is an outdoor facility.

The Green Wave thus became the first major college football program to make such a move.

On Friday, others followed their lead.

I guess kids under 12, will not be allowed in Saints games, unless they show proof a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of kickoff?

You can still get the virus and infect others if you have the vaccine. This does not make sense. Now the Covid test is acceptable for vaccinated and the unvaccinated. We have a testing center in Atlanta that performs the saliva test. That being said why are they jabbing people up the nose? The difference in accuracy between the two tests is negligible. I would use temperature reading stations instead.

this thing hasn't really made any sense since it started. i believe in the coming months it's gonna become more clear though.

Vaccinations should be required in addition to a total reimagining of how we consume in-person entertainment. We have to move past the days where we thousands of people into arenas and stadiums to consume entertainment.

Social distancing, mask-wearing, hand washing, and improved courtesy (covering mouth/nose when sneezing, coughing, or blowing one's nose) will have to be implemented in order to get through and past this pandemic along with preparation for future pandemics.

At least for this pandemic, facilities should consider moving to a 50% capacity limit and enforce vaccination requirements in order to attend.

1. Get vaccinated. If you are vaccinated you are LESS LIKELY to become infected and spread the virus.
2. Wear a mask. If you wear a mask you are LESS LIKELY to become infected and spread the virus. the mask also reduces how much virus you are exposed to and that has a bearing on how severe a case you get.

I work for DoD. Masks are mandatory in the office. We will have the option to submit to continuous testing, take the vaccine, or seek employment elsewhere.
I took the time to read the FDA approval and it shows that risks are associated with taking the vaccine. Yes, there are risks associated with not taking the vaccine.
On a side note Pfizer's stock price increased when the news hit.

sounds almost manmade

Kids couldn't really get COVID-19 - now all of a sudden they can - its like we figure it out and then bam - a new variant that attacks the previously immune is let in the air - what's next?

Kids always could catch the early strains. The strains just weren't strong enough to impact them the same as the sinfully obese folks and folks with multiple health problems...

The kids who caught it all last year were likely asymptomatic and spread it to their parents, teachers & relatives. That would explain the big wave last Fall/Winter.

They are idiots.

Literally nobody is harmed by the vaccine.
Not necessarily I haven’t taken the vaccine specifically due to my wife being pregnant and now breastfeeding. I will not be going to any games this year. I also work alone 95% and other times I wear my mask and social distance. Once my wife stops breastfeeding we will discuss getting the vaccine.

I just left Nawlins. You had to have either a negative Covid test (within 72 hours) or your vaccination card to get into the bars, restaurants, casinos etc.

Not enough research on pregnant or breastfeeding women. We will stay in isolation until our little one is done breastfeeding. I will stream all of my games.

The link from the CDC listed researched data and outcomes. How much more information do you need?
What did your doctors say?

Doctor told us if we didn’t feel comfortable don’t take it. They don’t have enough research on the long term affects of the vaccine on children from conception to adolescents. So it might be good now but bad later. We understand the risks that is why we are staying home for the next 17 or so months (Son is 3 weeks old). I am going to miss watching games in person but thank good for streaming and radio.

another variant. then another, until they have enough of the population under the controls they're setting up. looks like they're getting ready to go for a full mandate, including children with the news about phizer coming out today. notice they keep saying most of the unvaxxed are Black people. we just heard what the lt. gov. here in Texas had to say about it.

i listen to mike gallagher in the mornings and he said on his nationally syndicated radio program that "he heard from someone close to him" that most Blacks in NYC with vaccination cards bought em on the black market. so they're setting up the racial component as well.

it's been acknowledged it's manmade, that's not even really a question anymore. that's what rand paul was grilling fauci about in the senate hearing not so long ago - where the funding for the research came from.
