Won it in her natural hair!
That was the first thing I noticed too.
I don't watch spelling bees, but I was thumbing through the remote looking for something to watch on TV and I ran across the spelling bee. Well, Ms Zaila Avant-garde (love that name ) was walking up to the podium to get her word. I thought to myself, hmmmmm, what is this? So they gave her the word she was supposed to spell and she spelled it correctly without any problem. I thought, let me watch some more of this.
I was very impressed with her knowledge of the dictionary, word origins, root words, etc. She is a good basketball player too.

Along with being a speed reader and math whiz she holds 3 Guinness World Records.
The talented basketball player has set three Guinness World Records: one for the most basketballs dribbled simultaneously (six basketballs for 30 seconds); the most basketballs bounces (307 bounces in 30 seconds); and the most bounce juggles in one minute (255 using four basketballs).

I think her saying she wanted to attend Harvard may have made some slow to act.
Good.
You are probably right. But, you have nothing to lose, so offer her a full ride anyway.
Mo'Ne Davis said she wanted to play women's college basketball at UConn but ended up going to Hampton.

And your point is? Plus, Mo'ne is not playing basketball she is playing softball. I wish Miss Avant-garde would have kept the Harvard comment to hherself but she is 14 so I get it.
The point is just because she says she wants to go to Harvard doesn't mean she eventually will. Kids divert all the time.
