Before I share the article let me give some background. The 17 year old kid is black and the two girls race is unknown but that will come out. The young man Townsend has been dating the 15 year old he was having sex with for 2 years. Since he was 15 and she was 13. The parents knew about. Now all three are in high school and because he is 17 he is being charged with Cardinal Knowledge of Juvenile.

Stuff like this scares the hell out of me because my son will be 17 in the 11th grade. Because of his birth date he had to start school at a later date. This young man could very well be an 11th grader and the young lady a 10th grader. Now if found guilty he will be a convicted sex offender and have a charge of resisting arrest. The kid probably got scared when he heard cardinal knowledge of a juvenile. Hell the student filming was not asked by either of them to film and she caught them and shared it with everybody.

I know the DA here and I pray he dismisses the charges.

I personally don't feel that two kids that are in high school should be charged with cardinal knowledge of juvenile. Hell they both juveniles. Some may disagree but 17 in the 11th grade is not an adult. Hell nobody in high school is an adult.

Three Union Parish High School students were charged with sex crimes after two were reportedly videoed having sex — fully nude — on campus. The third student is accused of taping the incident and sharing the footage.

Union Parish Sheriff Dusty Gates said said the incident was reported to the sheriff’s office Sept. 24. A 17-year-old boy and two 15-year-old girls were arrested the next day.

Austin W. Townsend, 17, of 1101 Pine Drive, Farmerville, was booked into the parish detention center on misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile, obscenity and resisting an officer. He has been released on bonds totaling $7,500.

Gates said Townsend, while being questioned, became irate and refused to cooperate when deputies tried to handcuff him.

The young woman participating in the consensual sex was charged with obscenity and given a juvenile court date of Dec. 4.

The videographer was charged with pornography involving a juvenile and given a juvenile court date of Dec. 4.

Both girls were released to their parents.

Damn! The ages are very important today even though consent is given.

Like I said this could be my son. He will be 17 in the 11th grade and what if his girlfriend is in the 10th and 15.

I don't care the color of the child this law should be reviewed. This is sad.

Then instead of the cop trying to calm the kid the kid is arrested. I will bet this kid was scared and emotional about the situation.
 
See this is why I never understood "age of consent", but if a person is under the age of 18, they are still a minor.
Also how do you charge a minor for filming what the two involved, permission or not? (staying away from certain terms as to not get the site in trouble)

This sounds similar to that case in Florida a few years ago, with the Black 17yo boy and the white girl, who was I think a year or two younger than him and even though they both fell within the age of consent, the boy was still arrested.

Man, I would talk to him about the situation you just brought up about the other kids. When we were growing up, this was normal and accepted. Now days you can catch a case.

The ethnicity of the girls will be provided.

Ultimately it is up to the D.A. who is black. Knowing the judge how I know him....he is a former Asst. D.A. and may request counseling for the teens (all of them). This D.A.'s office is about counseling first especially for youngsters. What bothers me are the school resource officers. The firs thing they want to do is arrest.

The two kids were screwing and another one caught them and started recording them secretly. But I’m with you on that.

Here is another real conversation....we used to have a press box at the old GSU stadium that was Motel 6. Every school has that spot. We also had the radio and TV room because there were no outside windows.

Just being honest. LOL

We all have done things but the difference is some of us were not caught.

One of my best friends used to teach 7th grade English. She told me (some years ago), while one class was in the library, she noticed the kids kept huddling up, whispering and giggling about something. Turns out a phone was being passed around that had a video of 2 other 7th graders (boy and girl). The girl was performing oral sex on the boy there at the school (in the boys locker room), and was ejaculating in her face. My friend (who was the teacher) and the librarian took the phone.

Turns out a federal law enforcement officer was there that day to lecture to the class about how the law works. My friend actually went and got him and told him what happened. He excused himself, came into that library and told those kids that recording sexual acts between 2 underage kids is considered pornography/pornographic. He also said that since it was recorded at the school the person could face serious charges, regardless of their age. My friend told me this scared the crap out of those kids.
 
Teens these days have came up with technology like that in hand but hardly any parents will sit down and teach them how to be responsible with it.

Then when you add on top of it all the sex/sexual liberation crap that is being pushed with celebs dropping sex tapes like candy with no consequences, it just adds up to a big cluster duck. We know that the 17/18 year old dating the 14-15 year dynamic has been going on forever. It's only a problem when race gets involved (see the previously mentioned case in Florida)

§80.1. Misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile

A. Misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile is committed when a person who is seventeen years of age or older has sexual intercourse, with consent, with a person who is thirteen years of age or older but less than seventeen years of age, when the victim is not the spouse of the offender, and when the difference between the age of the victim and age of the offender is greater than two years, but less than four years.

B. As used in this Section, "sexual intercourse" means anal, oral, or vaginal sexual intercourse.

C. Lack of knowledge of the juvenile's age shall not be a defense. Emission is not necessary, and penetration, however slight, is sufficient to complete the crime.

D. Whoever commits the crime of misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile shall be fined not more than one thousand dollars, or imprisoned for not more than six months, or both.

E. The offender shall be eligible to have his conviction set aside and his prosecution dismissed in accordance with the appropriate provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

F. The offender shall not be subject to any of the provisions of law which are applicable to sex offenders, including but not limited to the provisions which require registration of the offender and notice to the neighbors of the offender.

I’m the secretary of our Women’s Ministry; this past May, we had a Single Parent’s Workshop. One of our topics/presentations was “Teaching Your Child Social Skills, Not Social Media”. It was a 2-part presentation. The first part covered using basic social skills to prepare our youth for the professional and social environment. Social media has taught some of our our children to be rude, disrespectful, senseless, and cruel; our focus was to help parents get back to spending quality time with their children and re-introduce the skills that will teach them how to behave in social gatherings (church, school, extra/curricular functions, etc). We had a sister who teaches at the Juvenile Detention Center and the Pulaski County Jail speak.

The second part was more so about “The Dangers of Social Media”. It covered responsibility and accountability when using social, along with cyber bullying, pornography, and how parents can monitor their child’s phone usage. The presentation also covered documented cases of “internet crimes” committed over the past few years. We had a sergeant from the North Little Rock PD present that.

The problem also comes down to morals. No one has them anymore. Folks just do any and everything now. It's amazing how women will just about suck a spoon in public like it's ok. These dudes will lick a cat on the 50 yard line to get attention. Sick azz world we live in.

The recording part is definitely a problem given the people who prey on children. The kids who had sex on school grounds should be suspended and that's it. No charges should be filed. Now the young lady who recorded it...that's an issue. She basically recorded it without permission then shared it with others.
