He was a Deacon at my church. I was sitting next to him when I joined the church. He was a very nice person.

I will take a stab at this ...

The program began to stagnate under Pete, and IMO, it started to look like he was losing the team. The Katrina talent diaspora hurt us recruiting. That's IMO what ultimately got Pete let go.

Also, our APR troubles actually started under Pete. Like other HBCU coaches and programs, didn't adjust for APR coming down the pike.

I guess... But do you think Coach Pete would've went out better if the players on that 06 &07 team would've handled there responsibilities in the classroom?

Perhaps but there were many factors at play. If Pete still had anything left he would've continued coaching.
