Those who forget the lessons of televised congressional hearings are doomed to repeat them, which is why the morning segment of the Capitol Hill show trial of veteran FBI agent and former head of the Bureau’s Counterespionage division Peter Strzok turned into a disaster for Republicans.

Donald Trump’s congressional enablers, sycophants, and political suck-ups wanted a punching bag, but Strzok instead delivered one of the rarest of moments: the full Joseph N. Welch.


Welch, the chief counsel for the U.S. Army during the infamous McCarthy hearings in 1954, had reached a breaking point. After McCarthy’s tendentious badgering reached a fever pitch, Welch delivered a famous rejoinder that ended the Wisconsin senator’s career. Watched by millions on live television, Welch went full beast-mode.

“If it were in my power to forgive you for your reckless cruelty I would do so,” said Welch. “I like to think I am a gentleman, but your forgiveness will have to come from someone other than me… You've done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?”
 



I hadn't seen a lashing like that since Sally Yates got in ted Cruz and John cornyn's ass. White Texas hadn't taken an L like that since that time when Big Tex burned himself up at the State fair after OU dropped 60+ on the longhorns .
 
That's how you fight fire with fire. I wish the Democratic Party as a whole stepped up to the plate and do the same thing.. I think it is long past due for Nancy Pelosi and her crew to step down. Paraphrasing Gene Hackman in the movie 'Mississippi Burning', "you have to crawl down into the sewer gutters to go after these sewer rats." Ironically, in the movie he played the part as a badass FBI agent.

I agree, but I think Trump and the Republicans picked the wrong organization (FBI) to pick a fight with and I don't think Putin can come to their aid on this one. I'm sure the FBI has enough dirt on most of them and is more than capable of suppressing them back into their sewer gutters where they belongs.
 
A modern day Eliot Ness. The FBI made a name for itself by taking down large mafia like organizations. What he did is nothing new to the FBI.

*rump and his Republican cronies have no idea of what they are doing. They have thoroughly pissed off the intelligence and investigative wing of the U.S. government. Please believe these agencies are working in tandem to find as much dirt on *rump as they possibly can which is Mueller is taking so long. They literally want to take down the entire establishment. The goal is bring charges against *rump that are so tough that his administration will crumble and no president in their right mind would pardon him.

It's not so much at another president pardoning him, but it's so that the current congress will not be able to support him.

Someone who can take on the Republican establishment on all issues. Mary Landrieu from Louisiana had a similar agenda as Pelosi and you see what that has gotten her. Pelosi survived this long due to the fact that she's in California. You can't play nice and compromising with people who will never be nice and compromising. IMO, the Republican Party has been taken over by some of the most evil intent people there is. Basically, political criminals who think they are untouchable.

Thanks to Mitch Landrieu and his determination to remove Confederate Monuments, now it is tiki torches. That's the kind of Democrat we need in this fight with the Republicans. You have to hit them where it hurts them the most in order to get them out from hiding. This way, you know who you are fighting.
 
I think Shaun King would make a good Democrat if he ever decides to run for some office. He has started a movement of keeping track of racist muggs. Now we hae people recording white woman harassing people of color trying to make a honest living.

They refused to let Obama seat his Supreme Court pick yet the Republicans let a Justice retire and they already had a pick ready due to a buddy buddy hook up.

I agree with what someone said earlier. Mueller is taking his time to the point that the charges will be airtight and Trump will have no safety net. How bad will the country be will be the question once some of these outrageous policies kick in and have to deal with them until the new Congress is seated
