Do you help others or reach back to help?

Yes...everyday...I donate, support, give back, sponsor, mentor, buy for, encourage, push folks to better. I talk a lot of shit, but I walk my talk. I support my alma mater (undergrad) with money, time, energy, am on the Foundation board, have a scholarship in my parent's names....I support my church with time, energy, money, my secular outlook when they go to far south and start looking like Appalachian pentacostal...I support my family- how many times have I held off on my dreams to help one of them get down the road to theirs? If I'm a part of it...I SUPPORT.

I do too. I will say though it is difficult trying to get the youngsters to see the big picture and not instant gratification. This is a marathon and not a sprint. There are so many facets to running a small business. Doing the actual work is a very small part. It is difficult (for me) to get that message across.

I reach back and help younger family member, whether it is money, time, conversation, support in their activities.
My niece is struggling right now and when she needs a loan I help her out. She understands she must pay me back no matter how small the amount. I do not want her getting in the habit of thinking she can get help for nothing. Paying me back helps to foster responsibility in other areas and she shared something with me a couple of weeks ago that affirms my method with her. She is getting there but when you make critical mistakes when you are young it always comes back to bite you later.
