Folks in Houston Metro, How Are You All Holding Up?

Hey guys,

Just checking in to see how you all are doing? I got plenty of family there all over, and I've been checking in with them this weekend. My sister, her baby and boyfriend are trapped in their home in Pearland, TX. She told me her car may not make it and water is edging closer towards their home.

My aunt is safe on the Northside of town by the airport. My other cousin, who works at UH is safe too with her kids.

I just heard there's a Tornado Warning near Bellaire up to the Greater Third Ward.

I'm praying for you all. :(

We're doing fine on our side of town. Lots of flooding all over the place. I got off at noon friday and I'm suppose to report back tonight. I'm not sure if I can make it to our station because of some of the roads but I have to figure it out somehow. Got to go relieve those folks that have been there all weekend. If i get there, I know I'll be there for a few days.

i hope everyone and their families are safe. So far my family is safe and dry out here in Missouri City. I have never seen a freeway flood. Some parts of the city has had as much as 20 pulse inches of rain.

My parent's house in Galveston county started taking on water last night. It receded today. More rain on the way though.

And now alligators and snakes are beginning to show themselves due to the higher water levels. Watch where you step everyone :( .

I was in stuck at DFW airport this morning. The connecting flight to Houston was cancelled and then the rescheduled flight was cancelled and rescheduled for 10:45 p.m. Tuesday. Rented a pickup and headed to Houston. Got as far as The Woodlands and could go no farther. Checked in a hotel and hoping it eases up and drains off so I can get to the house. According to my neighbor our street is good...getting into the subdivision is the problem.

P.S. Got some shady looking white folk in this Holiday Inn Express.

The restoration companies are stacked in here like sardines.

Our guest minister, who lead our service yesterday, church is in Houston. At that time he mention that his family and church building were ok but his flight was also cancelled. That was close to 24 hours ago. Prayers up H-Town.

Do you know Greg Doggett?

Been at work since Friday, and ain't going anywhere anytime soon. The city I work for has gotten 20+ inches and at least 1 confirmed tornado. We have flooded, and thankfully drained, at least 6 times since Friday. A few pics from the city...

My family is good but this is going up the street. Pics from yesterday. I'm about to take some more as I'm sure it has gotten worse.

My youngest child is going into her 2nd year at the PVAMU College of Nursing, which is located downtown Houston, so naturally she is there in Houston. She said where she lives isn't flooding (thank you Lord Jesus). Quietstorm has been such a blessing, keeping me informed as to what's actually happening there in Houston, reassuring me about my daughter, as well as himself.

I'm doing all I can to "let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus", and my trust is in the Lord. I've been constantly telling myself, "My child is covered by the Blood of Jesus. Lord, be with my child".

A little comedic relief.

The community just found out that Vernon's Kuntry Katfish is under water on Hwy105. Kinfolk phoned another cousin to use his John Deere w/ front-end loader. He stated that he's driving 14.2 miles there to help scoop the water away from Vernon's because Harvey went over the line w/ that one. Saw kinfolk w/ the tractor @ the flooded town creek lake and he was soliciting donations for diesel and beer so he can make the trip there safely to help out lol & smh. A BUNCH of relatives were on horses so that's when I knew that everybody was a-okay in this neck of the woods.

Never under-estimate the power of persistence, perseverance, and teamwork! I may need him to hitch up that horse and go get my baby!:) (just kidding)

Thanks Bewild, I needed that laugh!

My son is with Wildlife and Fishers...he is on the water rescue team...they have him on standby. They were making sure their vaccinations were up to day, so apparently they will be calling him up.

Girl these fools were having a trailride and prolly bbq'ing a few squirrels and coons right about now. I'm jetting off in a few on the new mahindra and will look for the bbq smoke lol. I wish I had the cell phone w/ me to take a pic of the 3 y/o riding a big tall mare. We start them very early out in these neck of the woods. :D
