PVAMU vs SHSU Football moved to Thurs, ESPNU

Why is it a bad decision to move game?

Personally, I think the move is gonna kill the crowd. Originally, I planned to drive down from DFW for this game.A Thursday night game makes it impossible for me after being down there a few days before for the LDC. Fickle Houston folks are gonna use 290 rush hour traffic (valid) as an excuse not to drive up to PV. We all know that SHSU doesn't travel well anyway so they'll just likely watch on TV.

Who made the call here then?

The home team I would suspect. The conference has no say over ooc games.

Coming off the Labor Day weekend a lot of your out of town season ticket holders and fans that were gonna come down for the saturday game will not travel in the middle of the week for his game. Most would have just left the area for the LDC and with monday being the holiday they will not come back a couple of days later.

Bingo... LDC on Saturday, Monday is a holiday so now you're asking fans to figure out a way to make a Thursday night game after two works days. This would work if we were a college town and most of our fans lived in Prairie View.

So would attendance be better without the bother of TV networks moving the games to Thursday?

Yes, just look at all the other games that get moved to Thursday. None of them really have many fans there.

SHSU fans will not show up at PV; seems like they have fear & they don't travel well from the outset. PV may miss the ntx supporters (300-400 at most), imho, due to the prior LDC w/e. Maybe the apathetic and uninterested students will show on a Thurs night, who knows...

This I can agree with...what be cool is if PV would load up buses of students to attend. GSU did that with Valley one year when we played them in Valley on a Thursday and it was on ESPNU. That was the game that Valley's sprinklers went off.

Why would PV load up buses for students when the game is being played on our campus?

Guess which Division doesn't have to worry the TV networks moving games to Thursdays.......

The game is at Prairie View.

Guess which division doesn't have to "worry" about TV period? LOL

Thats my point. Either accept the pros and cons that come with being in a 1AA conference with a TV contract or go to one that doesn't.

Its really not that hard to show up for a Thursday night game unless its not a priority...

Honestly, the on campus student population will probably turn out in higher numbers on Thursday than a Saturday. The upper deck will be fairly full since there is interest. The 2 schools are pretty close to each other. Now that PVAMU on the lower deck will take a hit..lol. With the Marching Storm and gold members club holding down the end of the lower deck, it might not be a bad visual. The East side will be empty though.
