Chris Berman to step down from all TV roles on ESPN

Deeeeep In The Delta.....
Most knew this was coming after the way they did Tom Jackson. Could Suzy Kolber land the replacement spot on Countdown or will they go younger? (since Suzy isn't a spring chicken herself)

ESPN cleaning house. Berman was part of some sexual harassment lawsuit. Once Tom Jackson and Ditka was let go along with Chris Carter and Keyshawn. I knew it would not be long for Berman.

Suzy Kolber will not get it. One of them other white boys will. Kenny Mayne or somebody. Van Pelt maybe.

How did they do Tom Jackson????

The man was forced to retire immediately. It was announced right before the Hall of Fame ceremony so it allowed the ESPN talent to show him love on air and on social media. He wasn't even allowed a farewell tour like Boomer.

Okay, I am out of the loop on this. What exactly is going on? What sexual harassment or scandal has taken place at ESPN? How is this all connected to Jackson, Carter, and others?

Haven't heard that Tom Jackson was involved in any sexual harassment cases. Now Berman and Carter's another story.
What I do know is that this current crew ESPN has now is TERRIBLE!!!!

I only watched it one time this year for like an hour. I can't watch it

And it's pretty much the same format minus Steven A. Smith screaming.

Skip was the soul of Cold Pizza/First Take. It was at its best with Jay/Dana/Woody/Skip.

Once Stephen A was brought aboard and a new producer was brought aboard, Skip's days were numbered. Dana and Jay were forced out for Cari. Jamie Horowitz (old producer) got hired at Fox and reunited with Skip. Shannon was so good as a fill in for Stephen A that he was the logical choice to co-host.

It was all over the newspapers, but ESPN kept quiet about it for obvious reasons.

I've seen bits and pieces here and there over the years but never read any of full details of what specifically has been going on. Yeah, looks like it was designed that way (to keep people like myself in the dark). I don't know. More I want to say but I will just leave it at that until I read more and fully understand it all...

What does it mean for for the SCG and the CB if ESPN is hurting financially?

Probably not much in the short term. Live sports is the bread and butter. The problem is the changing viewing habits with the high cost of high profile talking heads. ESPN went through this in the 2000s when they started purging on air talent and focusing more on live sports. They've invested more into WatchESPN and live sports and less into non-live events.

Skip Bayless was offered more money to move to Fox just like Cowherd was. Seems like Fox Sports is trying to overtake ESPN but I don't think it's going to last.

ESPN is hemmoraging financially

Disney still rich enough to keep ABC and ESPN sports rolling though. I would be alarmed if Disney was not the parent company. But they got plenty of loot. Surely they don't like losing money, hence the restructure going on at ESPN.

Shannon doesn't have to scream either.
