Terry Bradshaw on Mike Tomlin: "I don't think he's a great coach at all"

I'm not impressed with Terry Bradshaw. He was a sub-par QB surrounded by great skill players and a great defense. He's also not a great commentator either.
I not only agree with everything you said, but Terry needs to be thankful that if it were not for Joe Gilliam's struggles and Al Davis's meddling, he would not be in the position he is in now.

Sounds like him and Get Ready were drinking together on this one.
Lol, I thought about Get Ready when I heard this quote. Even though I don't think Tomlin is a great X's and O's guy, the numbers speak for themselves.

Wins and losses are the judge of coaching prowess right? That's what makes Tomlin a good coach. With the team transitioning to a higher-octane offense, dealing with injuries and suspensions (Could you imagine there with Bryant on the other side of Brown?) ... Tomlin has done a pretty good job.

Definitely sub-par, Lynn Swann's career would have been longer had it not been for him having to make all those acrobatic catches off of them inaccurate passes from Bradshaw.

We saying the same thing.

Very True about Mr. Bradshaw! He should thank the late Joe Gilliam for Super Bowl #2.

Legend has it Jefferson street Joe from TSU was better than Bradshaw.....

..
I've always heard jefferson street Joe was better

There is a clip of some Raiders shaking hands with Gilliam before a game. Understand that the Raider-Steeler rivalry was fierce.

He doubled down on the remark today. Michael Strahan had Tomlin's back.

Here are words by a hall of fame and two-time Super Bowl coach. He meant it for teams but could also mean it for coaches

"You are what your record says you are."

- Bill Parcells

Hell I am Steelers Fan. Cowher was the one who lost all them damn AFC title games at home. He underachieved more to me. He had serious talent that we squandered.

Just as I figured, he had something good to say about Jeff Fisher. Terry must be having Fran Tarkenton moments. Trump really has them going.

Hall of Fame quarterback and longtime Fox network NFL studio analyst Terry Bradshaw let if fly when discussing the Rams’ meager offensive output under coach Jeff Fisher.
“Jeff Fisher is a guy that loves to play defense, he’ll always be a great defensive coach,’’ he said last Sunday on Fox’s pregame show.

My pops who was of this era used to say that it was so hard for a talented Black QB to make it that if he did win a starting role, then all of the other QBs had to be dumb <--that was the perception from a lot of (not all) caucasian coaches, scouts and etc. So when Bradshaw first lost out to Gilliam, that perception that he was dumb stuck with him. Of course we know better. Gilliam was the truth as was Eldridge Dickey, James Harris, or even our own Onree Jackson. The pressure was just crazy. One or two mistakes and that's it. Just like in other professions, when a Black person is the first in anything in this society, it's like you got to be better than perfect because your every move will be scrutinized.

Also, I think Al knew that Gilliam was the better QB which was why he talked with Chuck Knoll about starting Bradshaw (according to an interview on an NFL Film Documentary). Bradshaw thought Al was doing it on his behalf but Davis probably knew the real deal but it backfired because Bradshaw at his best was decent with the skilled players around him.

Anyways, I am so glad that Tomlin responded with that "Hollywood Henderson" comment. I am not a Bradshaw hater but sometimes I just wish he would Shut The ___ Up...!!!

Meeting with reporters at the Steelers’ facility, Tomlin was asked about Bradshaw, a Steelers legend and current Fox Sports personality who called him “a great cheerleader guy” on Friday.

At the end of a long answer about Bradshaw, Tomlin said, “But what do I know? I grew up a Dallas fan. Particularly a ‘Hollywood’ Henderson fan.”

Victory: Mike Tomlin had a great, subtle dig for Terry Bradshaw. (AP)
For those of you who might not remember, former Cowboys linebacker Thomas “Hollywood” Henderson once remarked that Bradshaw was so dumb he “couldn’t spell ‘cat’ if you spotted him the ‘c’ and the ‘a’.”

I thought TB had beef with Chuck Noll. Did he have beef with the Rooneys too?

Bradshaw had a love hate relationship with the city. The fans called him dumb hick back in the beginning. Also Chuck Noll was always on his ass. The late Art Rooney probably did not kiss his ass either. But I doubt he had beef with him. Terry knows Joe Gilliam fugged up his chance to be the Steelers QB with the drugs and his coping with the being in the NFL. Bradshaw was failing as the QB and Joe was better. Everyone knew that. Bradshaw was Brett Favre before Brett Favre. LOL. Country white boy who could throw it a long way. But not the most accurate QB and took chances that led to interceptions that used to piss Chuck Noll off. Brett at least learned how to be more efficient under Holmgren. LOL.
