Its funny how folks have all these percentages and/or numbers of how many will attend this game. Dude who gives a Shat!! Showing up and supporting is NOT an issue for SU, some of your schools yeah. SU does have a large Alumni base in Dallas, but then again, SU is quite visible in most Metropolitan areas.
The Jukebox itself will bring in a percentage of casual fans.

They are HBCU Economists.

i think the game will do well...plenty of SU alums here in Dallas, one of my clients, who is a TSU alum is already talking about supporting it.. i went to a SWAC cookout a few summers ago here in Dallas and it was southern grads, pv grads, gsu, tsu, everywhere.
then i think the local high school band kids will turn out just to see the Human jukebox.. may not be SFC numbers but it should be a good turnout especially if both teams are winning.

Hey, the Dallas alumni has been waiting a long time for something like this. Up until now, the annual Bayou Bash is the only time students get to see SU showcased in the Dallas-FrtWorth area. This will be interesting. :D

I'm sure. Hope it turns out well for both, which I think it will, for the most part.

Good luck with trying to get TSU FANS TO TRAVEL. Hell, they don't even attend their home games. Their fan base never gets excited about the football team. They brought like five people to Shreveport last year. I hope y'all prove me wrong,TSU. I would be thrilled if you did.

Still though, it's quite interesting that su would willingly give up a second home game to play in a different venue.
su must not be making much money at their own gate.

Um, what second home game? TSU is giving up a home date one year, and Southern the next in the two years of this deal. What insight do you have on Southern's schedules for 2018 and 2019? Hell, we don't even know how the SWAC is going to schedule everyone's 7-game conference schedule.

No, I was referring to one home game already played on the road in New Orleans. The second game is with Texas Southern.

The Classic? The home team designation alternates between Southern and Grambling each year.

I think he means that we are moving another home game away from the campus, but with the new 7 game format, I'm hoping we can renew another home/home game with Famu/BCC/TN State or NC A&T. The Dallas contract is for 2 years and there are still many unknowns.

IMO, we are not concerned about TSU fans (no knock on them). This is about showcasing SU to the DFW area. Even if it's only for two years, we need to take advantage of the exposure as long as the opportunity presents itself.

OK. I was just seeking some clarification. The 7-game schedule is going to throw some things out of whack.

If the schools can net more money at a neutral site than they would net at a home game, then I'm all for it. Now, just don't whore yourself out to any Joe Blow promoter with a "classic" in insert-city-here.

Now, hopefully we can get TRUE home-and-homes in nonconference with FAMU/BC-U/Tennessee State or NCAT. The problem is on the MEAC side (FAMU/B-CU/NCAT) is that they have a 8-game conference schedule at the moment. So they'll have three nonconference dates. They want to make money, too. They'll play an FBS team or two just like we'll play an FBS team or two.

Now, it might get a little easier if the Ohio Valley and Southland conferences get their wish and have FCS teams play 12-game regular seasons every season. That will free up more dates for teams to make these agreements to play. The onus is on the ADs to get these agreements to play signed and put on the schedule.

Understood. Thanks for that info. Good to know.

When you look at this DFW thing for TSU and Southern ... both teams win ...

Both schools get to showcase themselves in another talent-rich part of the Texas Triangle megaregion (Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, San Antonio).

Both schools get to net more money than they would for home games. The TSU game traditionally hasn't been one of Southern's most highly attended games (unless it was Homecoming). The Southern game is one of TSU's bigger home games. However, both schools stand to make more money.

Panther here, and I welcome the game to Dallas! The more opportunities to give the african american future exposure to HBCUs the better. All we have is Paul Quinn here. And due to the size of the school, it does not truly showcase the experience. When we gear up for the Cotton Bowl, people never understand why we dripped in Purple and Gold for a lowsy Black College Football game. But once they go, they understand. And Southern alums are no different. I will definitely be at this game! #HBCULivesMatter
