State Fair Classic Vol III: SUvTSU

It just means there will be three games played during the fair those two years. The PV/GSU game at the fair is confirmed through 2025 and TU/OU will always be played there as well.
 



I don't know if it is real or not, but it;s strange that this says 2018-2019 and not 2017-2018 since that is when the conference schedule changes.

It means nothing to PV. We've played in this game since 1929 and have missed only 4 (?) years of it to date. Ask the recently added Grambling (since 1985) folks how they feel their fanbase will be affected.

Dallas city council, from what I understand, was trying to make a push to land another HBCU matchup. sTu vs SU is the best possible matchup outside of GSU vs PVU. Good luck with it, if it occurs.
 
Prairie View-Southern set the bar at 47K in 1987. Good luck to sTu-Southern exceeding that number.

This is ridiculous for su fans to do. Another HOME game played on the road? It's hard to believe that su's giving away a home game to another Western division opponent.
Heck, LeFleur was crucified when he did it.

It's too easy to simply say that "SU is giving up an home game" without looking at the business reason why they are doing it. For SU and TSU this is an opportunity to get annual revenue for playing a game against a team that otherwise would only come every two years by playing it home and home. That is the trade off. And in this case is a good one.

Good for both SU and TSU. I'm looking forward to it.

No. Besides, the state fair is a money-trap. Its not something the casual fan in DFW will do more than once. With the game being after the SFC and the last weekend of the fair, most folks would have already gone so it will be a tough sale for the casual fan/walk up crowd.

I disagree. The factors of this game will be just like it is for the GSU/PV game. The attendance of this game will be aided by those who will take advantage of the 2-for-1 deal. A game ticket will also get you into the fair - just like the GSU/PV game.

As is the case with most neutral classic games, the key is to leverage the fan bases of each school participating as well as the support of the community. Chances are - just like I witnessed with my own eyes at the GSU/PV last weekend - those in attendance with no affiliation to either school will leave after halftime to go take in the fair...regardless of how competitive the game might be. The only people who will stay are the fans of each school.

If the weather is great, the turnout will be great - just like the GSU/PV game. If the weather is bad, the attendance will suffer - just like the GSU/PV game has seen in the past.
 
Maybe if your school is near last in attendance that would be the consensus but if it's near or at the top consistently it may be a different outcome.

Man there are people who go to the state fair 4-5 times a year regardless. Folks will be there.
