NC A&T’s Rod Broadway: MEAC ‘Not Financed To Win National Championships At This Time’ – (VIDEO)

[Kenn Rashad]

Happy with the results of his team’s 41-34 win over Alcorn State, in the inaugural Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl, North Carolina A&T football coach Rod Broadway didn’t mince words during the postgame press conference Saturday when asked to provide his thoughts on the MEAC’s decision to give up the conference’s automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA FCS playoffs in order for the conference champion to compete in the newly created bowl game.

“Well, I was for it all along and I was an advocate for it,” Broadway said. “I was in Division I for 24-years and one of our goals every year was the same, and every team in the country has the same goal, go to a bowl game.

This why our asses in the SWAC need to also play more MEAC teams in home and home regular season games as well.

Grambling did it with Bethune so the other schools should follow suit.

And A&T folks are saying that Broadway said all that to appease Thomas and the creators of the bowl.

I'm not surprised by it.

Remember the SWAC paid the Alcorn alum and ESPN to convince the MEAC to give up their auto bid

I think I might actually go to AGS and be entertained lol

And they were dead serious about it too. SMH

[CEE DOG]

Those MEAC folks remind me of bigots who say they weren't racist until Obama became president. Lol

And I guess he told those Grambling alums after the Bayou Classic that "they could have this shit" to appease them too huh? LOL

Since its been a few years Phreeze. What exactly happened with Broadway? I was glad to see him go but that was for other reasons.

[wahines]

Well, he is telling the truth!

[bluedog]

Okay.....time for dumb question because this one went right over my head.

Don't forget, he called the BC a "dog and pony show" too. I told the folks on the MEAC board, the man means what he says and says what he means.

[bluedog]

Nevermind it just hit me......DUH! ROTFLMAO!!!!!

[JAG89]

Rob Broadway is right. If one looks at MEAC schools athletic finances, most are breaking even or losing money when comes to revenues and expenses.

[Brave]

And they were dead serious about it too. SMH
