MOVE BAYOU CLASSIC OUT OF NEW ORLEANS

Saturday’s shooting was at least the second of its kind this year on Bourbon Street, New Orleans’ most notorious hotspot for adult entertainment. On March 21, two men were shot, one fatally, not far away near the intersection of Bourbon and Conti streets.

On June 29, 2014, two men opened fire on each other in the 700 block of Bourbon about 2:45 a.m., wounding 10 revelers and tourists but not each other. A 21-year-old nursing student from Hammond later died. One man remains in jail in the shooting, awaiting trial; the second shooter remains unidentified.

The latest incident occurred as the French Quarter and especially Bourbon Street were crowded with fans in town for Saturday’s Bayou Classic football game. Police presence on the street was also high, with 25 New Orleans Police Department officers and 15 state troopers assigned to Bourbon’s 10 or fewer entertainment-oriented blocks. The NOPD’s mounted division supplied an additional 15 officers, assisted by eight Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies on horseback.

And the shooter was Vietnamese! Are they going to petition to keep them out of N.O. too?

How can they petition anyone to stay out of New Orleans when most likely a lot of them don't live in New Orleans??? Even after Katrina, New Orleans is still majority Black, with just over 60% of its population being Black. What folks have to understand, this is something that crazy white folks who probably live in Jefferson Parish and somewhere on the Northshore have come up with. I bet over 90% of the individuals that are making these outlandish comments do not live in the city limits of New Orleans.

That means no Mardi Gras either, right?

Yep...If it means getting rid of the Zulu parade. All Mardi Gras parades are costing the tax payers in New Orleans too much money. These crazy necks can't see the money generated from all the activities in New Orleans, which is probably one of the largest economic engines New Orleans has. I guess New Orleans should just be a major port city at the mouth of the Mississippi River and nothing else.

It will never happen. But let's just say SU played one year at LSU, then one year at Shreveport, I feel SU/GSU will have a big bargaining chip to go back to Nola and get more money,

The city of Nola is not losing the BC, because if u watch it from home,, every other commercial was about the city of nola, EXPOSURE EXPOSURE...

You better do a background check on those that have already moved there. You might find some interesting characters that are good at creating nice nooses.

Yeah but so many other folks globally are there. They need to be careful they don't end up in a noose. They aint the folks who hide out in Belize. LOL.

Do you honestly think Mitch Landrieu or any mayor for that fact listen to these racist white folks? They are non-factors since a lot of them don't even live in New Orleans.

Since Belize was once a British Colony up until 1981, I'm sure they are trying to transform Belize into something similar to Jamaica, where majority of the population is Black and poor and the beach areas would be owned by big travel/hotel companies that mainly cater to white tourists.

Of course. But I was referencing some of those folks you don 't want to mess with types who are setting up shop there to lay low. Most are brown looking folks. LOL. Them racist boys down there hooking up with any and everything dark or brown.

Watch news conference here

NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison said the unidentified victim was found lying on the ground after being shot in the stomach. The victim, a New Orleans man, died on the way to a hospital.

"Every indication leads us to believe that this is absolutely not related to Bayou Classic. It is not related to tourism," Harrison said.

Harrison said detectives gathered surveillance video from the scene. Investigators believe the victim was involved in a fist fight with a group of people outside a bar.

One person is seen punching the victim and another person is seen taking out a gun and shooting the victim multiple times, the NOPD said. Harrison said several people were involved in the fight that led up to the shooting.

"So what we have is a group of individuals who made their choice to hurt someone," Harrison said. "Our officers quickly responded very professionally. I'm extremely proud of them for that."

It only takes a few to mess things up for everybody. Out of the 62K plus that attended the game and thousands more that converged onto the city less than 1% were trouble makers. However, the trouble makers are so bad that they put a black eye on the event and seeing that many black people for non-whites is scary. I rode on the airport shuttle and met this black young lady that is a student at Oklahoma U. As she made it too her hotel she said that she had never seen so many black folks. My point is if a black person has this reaction (not that she was in fear) but it was different for her.

It appears that the comments are from business owners and workers in the quarter. Numbers do not lie and they feel that they make more money with a white crowd than they do with a black crowd. Now, we can say that is a black and white thing but as a business owner you see green. I think we all can agree that we would like for the "thugs" "bad people" both white and black to stay away and not cause trouble.

On a related note, my buddy and I arrived at the superdome early to experience the pre-game festivities in what is called champion square. We were probably 100 feet into the area when we saw a wave of people running towards us. I wasn't fearful of a bullet at that time but was scared that I was about to get trampled over. We did a quick turn around and retreated to an elevated areas with trees and shrubs. Thank goodness things quieted down quickly and the mad rush stopped.

How you confused comments from bartenders and waitresses baffles me. When they clearly state I am a bartender or I was a bartender.

In truth most are probably lying as they always do when they are on the Internet.

I guess the Black girl from OU is more used to hearing some white boy sing a song saying there will never be a N-word in his fraternity and they can hang from trees. I'm sure that song really makes her feel more comfortable than being around a bunch of people with the same skin color as her skin.

Eff those people and everything they stand for.

How about we boycott Bourbon Street and all the Establishments which are there. So you people who need these tips can survive the weekend. It's filthy anyway

I agree with this since they claim we are the problem and they don't make money from us.
