SU vs JSU Sold Out!!

You cannot have Football only Facilities per Title 9...It has to be shared by all athletics teams... Or at least front like it is...
Yes you can, if the other sports have their own facility. All the bigs schools have football only facilities. If they give the current facility to tennis (track already uses it), every other sport will have their own when construction is finished in the spring.

Serious question: what was so special about this particular JSU-SU game to warrant a sellout???

Um....we beat the brakes off you last year and you guys were looking for revenge with an expected much better team then we saw. And the fact that we respectfully don't like each other with two prideful fan base.

It was our first conference home game and it is the most purest rivalry in the entire SWAC if not all of hbcudom

The Willie Quinn factor as he was the talk of BR after the Vally game. Even with the other folks lol.

Plus SU football is being broadcasted against on the the best RB station in BR again, and they did a lot of pre game advertising and build up. I expect SU 's next two games to sell out or come close to selling out.

Honestly with JSU's leadership, drive and connections, with Su's Entergy and school pride and with Grambling's tradition and fame these three schools need to really get it together. If any HBCU can save the HBCU brand in athletics it will be these three for sure. Atleast if they get it together they can be a model for others. Im a JSU alum, hate SU but I really want them as well as grambling to invest back into there athletic programs. There's no reason these three schools should have anything less than a B" average athletic facility's . Alabama state is investing in there athletics but honestly they have nothing close to what JSU, su, and grambling could have because of there alumni and supporters if we could ever get them to really give back. I like what JSU and su are doing with this game by not making it a classic and still there were kids from southern miss, Mississippi state and ole miss at this game. I really think both schools should continue to improve on marketing this game, and the botb on friday should be cancelled. I think the battle the day of the game keeps the excitement centered around game day.

both teams can be 0-3 and it's still to demand 30,000. Hey, it's JSU and southern. ENOUGH SAID. On top of this being the only home game in the next 4 weeks I'm thinking .!!!

Do y'all see any game topping this one??
Like the P.V game which will probably be the battle for the West + you guys Homecoming??
Or Maybe Alcorn, revenge game, Hollowen night and probably if both are still undefeated the Game of the year in Swac, + maybe a preview of Houston??

SU only has 4 home games and I'm pretty sure the Alcorn game will be well attended this year. By the time AAMU comes to Mumford and the team is rolling to another championship, I'm pretty sure that game will be well attended. But all the games should be well attended like it was in the past (70's, 80's, and 90's). Before the JSU game, SU had an intense rivalry with FAMU, which sold out Mumford every other year. If FCS HBCUs got back to the days of scheduling those intense rivalries again, we could be paying ourselves instead of playing money games we have to travel to for a good azz kicking. Based on previous years (70's, 80's, and 90's), Mumford capacity should have been at 50k by now, but somehow our administration forgot about the fans and started thinking about themselves.

Also, the SU/JSU game in Baton Rouge is not dependent so much on JSU fans. If not one JSU fan showed up, the game would still be a sell out. I think the two schools administrations have somewhat hurt the SU/JSU game in Jackson, when a few boneheads had the bright idea to move SU home games to Jackson. Before then, the attendance were anywhere between 45k to 55k. Now the attendance is like 36k, which is a few thousand more of what will be in Mumford today.
SU, you jags need to stop thinking you effect everything and everybody. Whether yall send one fan to Jackson doesn't effect us either. JSU fans have been dealing with our own personal issues with coaching for the last 5 years. So we have half supporting the coach and half not. So that 36,000 you compared is in the mist of JSU fans being split. Secondly our stadium is much bigger and welcomes more fans from both schools. I've heard some SU fans Saturday say they like coming to jackso

i like how you said MAYBE a preview of the swac championship because SU want be in the championship unless grambling pulls a forfeit like they did against JSU lol

You do realize that the attendance in Jackson dropped off drastically right after some boneheaded SU people made the decision to move SU home game to Jackson. Plenty of SU folks decided to boycott the Jackson game due to that boneheaded decision.

Maybe in attendance but that's all

my point is su people act as if they make or break things. Yall boycotted has nothing to do with JSU attendance being down even at that game. Long as you know that's it's more personal toward our coaching staff the reason JSU attendance is down then we good. It has nothing to do with su, because if JSU fans where happy with the coaches and administration decisions toward athletics we could put 35,000 vs SU by our self n Jackson. I know many southern a fans think they are the reason for certain things happening . Honestly su only brought one big crowd to Jackson and thy was 2006. Other than that it was nothing extravagant , su brought just a crowd you would expect for a big rival.

Well I can tell you're not the real football Jimmy Oliver. ;)
Well atleast both of us want be seeing a football field come December. Lol. I'm not he real football Jimmy Oliver and SU will be at home watching the SCG on TV . So both of us are right.

Lol.... it's really an amazing phenomenon that it seems the first criteria of being a Jackson State alumni is that you have to be delusional

Obviously you are very ignorant of the SU/JSU series. I can tell you in 97 and 99 SU clearly had more fans than jSU in Jackson. Even Lem Barney said it on the TV broadcast. I still have the Vhs tape.
