SU only has 4 home games and I'm pretty sure the Alcorn game will be well attended this year. By the time AAMU comes to Mumford and the team is rolling to another championship, I'm pretty sure that game will be well attended. But all the games should be well attended like it was in the past (70's, 80's, and 90's). Before the JSU game, SU had an intense rivalry with FAMU, which sold out Mumford every other year. If FCS HBCUs got back to the days of scheduling those intense rivalries again, we could be paying ourselves instead of playing money games we have to travel to for a good azz kicking. Based on previous years (70's, 80's, and 90's), Mumford capacity should have been at 50k by now, but somehow our administration forgot about the fans and started thinking about themselves.

Also, the SU/JSU game in Baton Rouge is not dependent so much on JSU fans. If not one JSU fan showed up, the game would still be a sell out. I think the two schools administrations have somewhat hurt the SU/JSU game in Jackson, when a few boneheads had the bright idea to move SU home games to Jackson. Before then, the attendance were anywhere between 45k to 55k. Now the attendance is like 36k, which is a few thousand more of what will be in Mumford today.

Dude, besides FAMU, you are talking about us playing sorry schools in the MEAC that don't draw flies. FAMU is the only school in the MEAC who can benefit from playing SWAC schools.

If Valley Fish House is one of those back room kitchens after you pass Uncle Joe's bedroom, I'm sure there are plenty in Scotlandville. Look for the house where folks are line up and coming out with styrofoam plates wrapped in tinfoil. But I think there are still a few kitchens off of Swan Street just off the campus in-between the railroad tracks.

A 50,000 seat stadium and averaging less than 20,000. Doesn't add up and I'm glad the state of Louisiana agrees with me cause yall want be getting that so CARRY ON with yall opinions.

And some school wanted their state to build them a brand new 50k domed stadium. You have to be kidding. At least what I'm proposing is to add on to what's already there. Take care of and accommodate the fans in big games.

At least JSU proposal was for a collaborate effort between them the city and county since hinds county does not have an updated modern sports arena. JSU proposal was to benefit JSU and the city. Right now The city of Jackson is dead as the bodies in a funeral home And has no money to even build a city arena, so investigate before you make comments. So I could see where the dome idea came from.

Come on man, y'all wanted it on JSU's campus with JSU basically having full control of it. Do you honestly think those rednecks in Mississippi would go for something like that? Just by it being on or near JSU's campus, those rednecks in Mississippi would go nowhere near that place. The only way the City of Jackson would get something like that they would probably have to do some type of cooperative agreement with Madison County. What I'm proposing makes plenty sense, since each construction phase would cost approximately $10 million to $15 million to $20 million dollars. In a 15 to 20 year time frame, Mumford Stadium could easily expand to 50k. The last major construction project at Mumford was the football fieldhouse in the north end zone, which added approximately 3,000 seats to the stadium and costed right at $10 million dollars to construct. Since there won't be a fieldhouse added, closing in the south end zone should cost approximately $10 million for an additional 7,000 to 8,000 seats. That would bring Mumford Stadium to right at 36k to 37k capacity. The last project I would envision at Mumford Stadium would be a deck on top of the east side of the stadium with more luxury box suites. The construction cost of that project would probably be a little more since a structure would be constructed on top of another structure, with an estimated cost of $15 million. Also, luxury box suites could be designed and built into the south end zone project too. Those two projects could easily bring Mumford Stadium close to a 50k capacity stadium at a total cost of $25 million to $30 million dollars over a 15 to 20 year time frame. But for schools the size of SU and JSU to request from their State $250 million to $280 million to construct a domed stadium on or near its campus is definitely CRAZY AS HELL. I don't think LSU's recent stadium expansion costed anywhere near $250 million to $280 million to construct. I believe its total project cost was around $80 million. What the administration at JSU has to realize, sometimes they have to crawl before they can walk and run.

Smh. Yall should really research before posting. JSU only asked for $75 million on top of that being a loan. Jsu did ask to borrow $200 million only $75 million. Your comment was so opinionated and with no facts that basically I have no reason to comment on this topic anymore. I only comment back n forward when facts are the main points. Not one fact in your comment so end of this convo.

Some of what I posted was facts, such as $10 million for SU's fieldhouse and $80 million for LSU's stadium expansion, everything else was an estimated proposal. But JSU wants to request $75 million dollars from the State of Mississippi to construct a domed stadium, but still have yet to gain approval for $47 million dollars to construct much needed dormitories. I'll leave you with one word 'PRIORITIES'.

SU's field house was 17.9 million. Odums has been making a big push to build another field house in the south Endzone and give that current one to the other sports. Interesting to see what happens.

The problem with that is that the current fieldhouse is only a few years old and to build another fieldhouse in the south end zone could possibly mean relocating the tennis courts. IMO, the south end zone should be dedicated for stadium expansion only with additional luxury suites. And from what I understand, after Jaguar Park is completed, the only sport beside football that would be left using Mumford Stadium would be the track team and maybe someday the university would find a way to build the track team a separate facility outside of Mumford. If the football team needs a larger fieldhouse, maybe he should ask for an expansion to the current fieldhouse. Nothing says that the current fieldhouse can't be expanded into its current parking lot. Also, I don't know why they designed that facility to curve in the front entrance. If they would have squared off the front entrance, they probably would have added a few thousand square feet to it.

His idea was to move the tennis courts, grass area across from SU Lab, since they would be housed in the current complex. The complex was poorly designed. To much wasted space.

They can fix that with renovations to the existing facility. Nothing says that non-loading bear walls can't be removed. Also, the building could be expanded and squared off in the front. I understand why they curved in the back, so that it didn't conflict with the current track field. SU needs to hire a good space analysis architecture to redesign the interior of the current facility in order to maximize on space at its current location.

SUs stadium is fine at the size it is until demand says othewise. If SU fans want a JSU or Homecoming ticket, they need to buy a season ticket. End of story.

I never supported the dome idea but as stated, whether it makes sense or not, it was not for JSU alone. JSU needs MS to thrive and we need to work together. If MS wants to stay behind, let them. I like Memorial and I want to stay there forever but if we do build an on-campus stadium 25-30K would be just fine with TP. Just don't build it flat on the ground like that BAMA State stadium.

Now that I look at it, Coach Odums might have a good idea to build two into one. As long as most of the building is not in the curvature of the stadium and that area remains for stadium seats only, then I think it would be a great idea to add the maximum seating capacity with the building attached to it. I'm sure the price tag would be somewhere between $25 million to $30 million.

As long as it's footprint is not within the curvature of the stadium in the south end zone. There's plenty of room to build a larger complex outside of the stadium if the tennis courts are not there.

If the tennis courts are relocated the new football complex could be constructed anywhere in the area shown in white, which is a much larger footprint than the current complex. The area shown in red should remain reserved for future stadium expansion only.

First and foremost SU needs a better field surface, I think the first order of business would be artificial turf, on the football and jaguar park

Personally I would tear down the home side and build a new homeside and get rid of the dorms behind the stadium.. if SU was smart get rid of all those buildings behind the stadium, excluding the gym, because its on the historic list and the bandroom, most of the others including the dorms and bookstore could be torn down.. if my Google map is right their are 2 football dorms right behind the stadium, and I think 3 others, that could make room for a decent size football building,
I personally like LAtech building.

If not for the construction delays, SU would have a new surface.
 
I know Jaguar Park will be new fields, but are they installing a new playing surface for the stadium to???
 
Also can anyone tell me,, when are they going to pressure wash the minidome,, I hate looking at that, IT'S LIKE THE FIRST THING U SEE, IS THAT UGLY ROOF
