Just let it go. They still mad because the government did re-up their stamps this month. It ain't easy being a section-8 band.
 



I'll give 03 to JSU, but it was still a nice battle

04 and 05 were both massacres. SU did JSU bad those 2 years. 04 JSU was really undisciplined and clearly didn't know their music. In 2005 we were just an unstoppable band and JSU had an off year, so that just lead to an epic beatdown. Not to mention the 5th went like 12 rounds. JSU kept playing their old playlist of Cold Hearted, Under Pressure, PYT, Nobody Does It Better, etc...... lol

06 returned the intensity back to the battle, but we hit JSU with several curve balls they weren't ready for in the 5th.

07 was a nice battle

08 was a nice battle, but Weak and Never Would Have Made it in the 5th quarter had everyone singing. And don't forget the re-introduction of I Don't Give A ---- and the introduction of Those Gurlz in the 0.

09 was okay, but SU really put it on JSU throughout the entire game and 5th

10 was a nice battle and is a year JSU folks like to talk about because of that clip of Haymer, forgetting that SU really threw a lot of heat at them.

11 JSU came in Mumford just trying to outblow us and they got put down with song selection

12 JSU tried to put up a fight, but was no match for SU that year. Imagination was a nice song though in the 5th.

13 JSU did much better than their 2011 trip to Mumford, but song selection once again killed them. SU put out some real heat on them again.

14 SU did JSU bad in the gym battle, JSU did save some face in the 0 quarter, but started getting beat down during the game and halftime really was a knockout blow. The 5th probably would have been better if the bands could have gone 5 rounds instead of 3.

2012 it was early and they were still in the rebuilding stages under Taylor's leadership.

2014 he didn't feel like a long 5th was needed because of the BOTB and Zero quarter. The 3 and out was decided upon by both band directors. Taylor was texting Haymer about it during the game.

2016 will be better under Little

i wish go back to the long 5th quarters that ended whenever they felt like it.. my dad use to tell ,me they use to go at it till like 1am back in the 90s

Yea me too. I doubt they'll go back to being as late as 1am for safety reasons, etc. But I know for sure they'll be longer in Memorial under Little unless he's told otherwise by the school or JPD. The Boombox is I'm November next year so that really should be a better and even longer battle, especially being in Memorial.

If the battle is based on tradition, why not bring up the other schools SU battles? I mean, there are 8 other schools in the SWAC right?

If you wana talk about a one sided BOTB, what about the Bayou Classic? That battle has way more tradition than the Boombox if you wana go there.

So why focus solely on our band of we "never show up"?

Right and you see how ppl still go but they know the outcome..SU will thrash GSU..I'm just saying this BoomBox event is getting like this..or will become this way if yall don't show up and show out..that's what this thread is about..calling JSU out for the half-ass fight they yall been putting up...the last good fight that JSU band put up against SU was 2010..yall get all the hype before the season and then when it's time to face SU across the field..it's a meh performance..bias or non-bias..you can really tell if it was an even battle or a one-sided battle and it hasn't been even since 2010 and one-side then on out..

So I'm only saying..tell your band members and band directors that ppl are talking..mumbling about how yall about to become the new GSU of this game..if yall don't do anything worthy talking about in Sept

But the point of this thread..as the numbers guy broke down the years..you can clearly see posted that the last good battle and fight that JSU put up was in 2010..that's the only thing I'm saying..as a FAN/SPECTATOR/5th QUARTER WATCHER/BLOGGER..whatever you wanna label me as Lol..I'm saying..Yall haven't put a dent in SU armor since 2010 and quite frankly I'm tired as the JR dude stated SU battling older SU editions which is true...they need some real comp to battle..it's getting downright ugly.

All I'm saying don't become a GSU (punching bag) in this event..because you seen what happened at halftime last year in Memorial, that was minor.. folks will come to this event just to see how bad SU will do yall..just like they do for the BOTBs in New Orleans now..

You don't even know how or who came up with this poll.
Kenn or whoever made this poll didn't bother to combine all HBCU polls together to even get a logical poll together. It's like whomever just pulled names out of a hat.
No real band fan would ever put JSU behind all those bands.
 
You got a point .. i respect what you say but SU work just as hard as JSU and im a fan of both.. i wouldnt even try to vote who's bettre between those two programs because their both are good and bring something different to the table.. Just my opinion though

Yes they would. NCAT has great halftime shows, and a lot of people would rank SU and Bethune-Cookman ahead of JSU. It was just something they put together for fun. We all know it comes down to preference.

Dude, you just sit there and type just to be typing. Out of all the polls I've seen, not ONE time have I even heard of NC A&T even being in the conversation. LOL! And then Bethune is soooo boring folks fall asleep on them.
Even most polls I've seen recently has JSU ranked first out of all HBCU's. Heck, I even posted both an HBCU poll and predominantly White poll as evidence.

NC A&T's halftime shows are nothing but a "High School Musical".

Marching bands evolved from military traditions not minstrel shows. I rate JSU over a High School musical and the foolishness of a SU band any day. I like BCU, I would rank them 2nd, NC A&T 3rd and SU 4th. JSU is ranked 1st.

So just like I said, it comes down to preference. NCAT does themed shows which really sets them apart from other HBCUs and SU has consistently been tops when it comes to precision drills.

Do you have a musical background? Every musically-inclined person that I know from several different schools all agree NCAT is great on the field, their issue is their stands presence.
