Having this discussion the other day about the SU vs JSU Boombox, and someone asked when was the last real good battle between the two? We went as far back to 2006, maybe 2007 where there was actually an even battle...

These past last 8 or so years, SU has ran through them or the battle wasn't up to par,

with that being said, JSU hasn't really brought anything to this battle other than showing up and somewhat skating on their name..if you don't wanna swallow this..let's do it like this..

2014 -JSU didn't put up a fight (if you don't believe me..name 2 or 3 songs that was seeing anything SU played
2013 - (in A.W.) They didn't play a song dayum near the whole game, and their 5th quarter (again name a song that was seeing anything SU played) didn't amount out to nothing
2012- (SU destroyed the zero quarter, and the 5th quarter was a blurr, SU really let loose)
2011- (A.W) nothing stood out from JSU, name anything that was seeing "Something in my heart" played by SU, and again, this was one of those not so up to par years
2010 - (Power year), it was an ok year...this is the only time that JSU somewhat showed up
2009 - (SU really really embarrassed them that year)
2008 - (don't really remember, nothing stood out)
2007 - (To me, was the last year, that I can say, that I went back and actually listen to some of JSU tunes from that night
2006 - (This was a good battle)
2005 - (JSU put up a fight, but SU was just too much that night)

So is it that JSU is somewhat living off their name, becuz, they haven't really (to me) put up any kind of fight since 2010 or so..

Help me understand

Talladega seems to be the new band battle that everyone wants to somewhat see now...IF things turn out good this year against SU, will this be the new battle that everyone will want to see?

Jukebox showed last year at the pep rally that they are the best band hands down. There were no game just a botb between the two. Cant nobody touch Southern anyways so to put them in a situation like a botb they will destroy you just as they did last year at the botb in jackson.

I'm going to disagree with you on 2013 year where southern did eat a L ... Jsu's half time and 5th was better... They had the better arrangements of holy grail and "ain't worried about nothing" sent su back to playing standard songs like "we don't speed". Su messed up to many times musically in their tubas and the famous Mello slip up in holy grail. The footage is there too see... I think you're being very biased in the 2013 year which the boom owned su twice in one year. Now everything else I agree with you on. There hasn't been an intense battle actually since 2010 where both bands bought it and jsu got the best of su that year. How I see this rivalry in all honesty since 2004 is ....

True fans know I'm telling the truth... The footage is there and that's no pride or biasness there is footage and a true band head would know that.... Su fans are some unbiased people man jsu has got at su in this milinium ... You just refuse to acknowledge it..
 
Honestly ive never seen any band blow out Southern. Not talkin smack but its impossible to do. Ive lived a long time ive seen SU get in bands with 48, 120, 135, 200, 225 in the jukebox. With Southern combination of balance, power, sound, and arrangements its impossible to beat that. J state only songs i hear is Secert Gardan and maybe Big Ballin other than that no one can capture a crowd like Southern i mean no one. Also u cannot out drill them with putting the score on the field who do that? Man Jukebox is unmatched.

Just being real folk

Dega has brought more fight than what JSU brought over the last 5 or 6 years..well since 2010... I mean that's the truth and to the 2013 comment that ole mentioned, I have to tell you that you are a lie...nothing in the 5th stood out, folks (including some JSU folks who were on SU side) were ready for yall to leave after the 3rd song played by yall folk...Lets be really real...yall didn't play anything that whole game that made ppl say dayum that song got SU..nothing...we can go song for song if you like?
 
2006 was a good battle, maybe the best in Memorial in the 2000s..other than that, JSU hasn't done anything but live off their name...they get hype about this game, but I be like dayum..when will they show up and do something that make ppl talk...Lol..SU is carrying this event,

ppl now don't look at it being a battle, ppl look at it now as to see how bad will SU put it on JSU..or what will SU do this weekend..Lol..that's how it has gotten...

I have to agree...when they played secret garden in 2005, that was a banger....and that was the last time I think I heard them play it against SU...but again like I said on another board..
Ppl get it confuse when SU has a battle..for example, Dega the 1st time they played against SU, matched SU intensity and aggressiveness and actually play their song Happy right..it sounded pretty good and that's what got ppl saying SU took the L, same with that SU vs TXSU matchup in 2011, which I still look at...they came with it intensity wise with SU...and ppl look at that and say "oh they getting at SU" when in case they're not...lol..

But yea it's been a couple of times..I've seen dayum, they got SU on they were on SU heels...

I'll give you 2006 if you wanna go with JSU, to me it was a good ass battle throughout as well as 2010, that's why I said that was the last time yall showed up to battle against them boys..all them other yeas..11-15....the ones you've name..yall could have stayed at home..to be honest..

Each time Dega has faced SU, they've gave their all..I think the second time though SU was just let it be known they're not ready yet.

When has or will anyone from Su ever admit defeat? You guys are fighting a losing battle going back and forth with them! I keep telling you guys they've always been brainwashed!!

Dude, all su is, is LOUD. No balance whatsoever. If su was SOOOO good, why are they trying to up their numbers and get more woodwind instruments to even begin to sound more balanced and crisp.

Naw dog. J state loud Southern powerful big difference. Y u think j state changed there way of playing? I wonder? But band wise J state cant touch Southern.

Dude, JSU's been the most balanced band over the last few years. Heck, sometimes su's so loud, you can't even hear it's drums. Heck, your drums sound like somebody's beating on a plastic drum.

JSU has always kept it's style of funk. su's trying it's best to up their woodwind numbers and rightly so. There are times when su plays songs and you can't hear to subtle nuances of it's woodwind instruments at all in the background. All one hears are horns and trumpets and sometimes those plastic drums beats with little to no bass.

There's no sound like the BOOM once it get's started. The swing and sway will make the BOOM look even more threatening and powerful as it marches in.
Simply put, the Sonic BOOM is the most entertaining band in HBCU land.

And lately, why in MOST polls by NEUTRAL parties has JSU been ranked HIGHER than su? Why is that? There's a reason for it and it's quite clear but I know you su folks won't dare speak it in public, but behind closed doors yall KNOW what's up.

Again, I'm not saying whose better outta the two (Dega vs JSU) but who isn't (scared) or let me say, gives SU a battle which has been Dega since they've stepped on the scene...They are surpassing you dudes...yall don't give SU any kind of battle..the last good battle yall gave SU and made them somewhat work was 2010..after that year..yall just started showing up and getting the hype based off of what you are living on, which is the past JSU editions..90s era...and so..



Only ppl that put JSU on the top of their list as the best band in the SWAC are JSU ppl...others don't because when yall face SU, yall don't do anything to them boys lol..The truth is, it's time to call yall out...and yall need to stop living off the past and name of JSU..and battle
 
I listed the years..even your boom comrade stated the years yall took the W, even 2013 and we can pull up that night and go clip for clip other than that..the only year that yall really battled SU was 2010 Lol...and we hype this event up..when in fact..yall been getting thrashed all these years...
Like I said...ppl are now tuning in to see how bad SU could beat JSU...it started last year as an embarrassment..you seen the halftime show on yall field..so now it's like what SU will do now Lol..it's not even about JSU will get at SU..it's turned into how bad will SU will embarrass JSU Lol..

Dude, all that's a matter of opinion. Heck, I could say JSU stomped a mudhole and totally embarrassed su's band and fanbase at Memorial when Dr. Jackson prematurely played "Gangsta B", while The BOOM ended up playing it right back at them Jukes after we scored the winning TD.
That was a GLORIOUS day that will live in infamy as being the most embarrassing day of ALL time in the history of the Jukes!!

Then what about the time Dr. Jackson came on the field at Memorial and got totally blown on by The BOOM. Heck, that's when Haymer lost his mind!!
Quite frankly, the Jukebox hasn't been the same since Doc left and that's no lie.

Dude, you're not neutral, so quit answering your own question. Look at the neutral polls. Heck our J-Settes and The BOOM have consistently been ranked higher than su by NEUTRAL parties.
