I can write a book on this, but I’ll try and keep it short. It was a very long process. I’ve felt this way since I was about 14 years old. But I use to suppress it because of societal pressures and out of respect for my parents. Now since they are O.K. with it (and that took a long time, my mother’s father was a Baptist minister) I said the hell with anybody else. Also, as I mentioned earlier social media helped too, because I thought my story was unique. But I found out my story is not unique at all. Most atheists situation was identical to mine. Lastly, religious people never give me answers to indisputable facts, especially religious black folks. If you question Christianity, black folks do what they do best, quickly go into attack mode and never address the facts.
Believe it or not, there are many Christians/Believers that take on the mindset of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who didn't waste His time on a lot of folks. The Holy Bible tells often of how Jesus & His disciples traveled from town to town; they never stayed in one place. He even told His disciples to go out disciple. He instructed them to bless the house that received, and to also shake the dust off their sandals as they departed from the houses who did not receive. The Pauline Letters tell how Paul traveled; Peter & Timothy as well. They traveled everywhere, spreading the Good News to one town, and went on to the next.
It's the same with a lot of us Believers/Christians, which is why its called an "Invitation" to Discipleship. It ultimately goes back on how bad the person wants God. We offer Christ; we don't force Him on anyone. Whoever wants Him, we take time to nurture and teach & disciple them. Whoever does not, we move on to the next soul.
I've seen and heard about a lot of folks get ostracized for choosing to not believe in the Christian god or practice the Christian faith.
One of my buddies went to observe a Muslim Day held at the state Capitol earlier this year.
And there were a bunch of so-called Christians there protesting. He said they were saying and shouting the most hateful things at those people, saying they were going to Hell, evil, God hates them, etc.
Even in our churches, we'd are quick to treat our own people the same way. Calling them abominations, shaming them or worse for not accepting the invitation after the preacher pleads with the congregation to join the church over music that is played specifically to alter the mood in the building.
And we wonder why folks do not want to be associated with that.
Americans are finally beginning to use their brains instead of carrying a book that has no value to church on Sunday.

And who taught you all to act like animals?People want speak, they act a fool, but on Sunday you see them carrying this book and going to church? Hey, isn't this the America way? Mr. Charlie taught us to act this way.
And who taught you all to act like animals?
This book. . .
A book that’s a 15th century man-made device . . . a man-made device like a cell phone, a computer, or a television.
Before the invention of the printing press, information in all Bibles came from copies of handwritten materials many centuries after the fact. In order to get copies you couldn’t take it to a copy machine. Somebody had to hand right a copy every time (in the days of Jesus only few people knew how to write especially in Greek) which was a long and laborious process. Errors and variations were made. Some were made accidently but some were intentional by Monarchs with an agenda (King James). There are over 25,000 different New Testament manuscripts in the world with 400,000 different variations. There are more variations than manuscripts so nobody really knows if any bible is the original work or not. There oldest New Testament manuscript is a fragment known as Ryland Library Papyrus P52 approximant dates 117-138 A.D. and it’s the size of a credit card and written in Greek. The rest are dated after the 9th century so there could be more than 400,000 variations. But this is the book that cannot be challenged.
Interesting conversation ...
Personally, I believe being a Christian isn't a title ... it's an action verb. I simply believe being a Christian is a daily task to live the next day better than the previous day, yanno. Helping people daily as much as you can. Treating folk as you want to be treated. Maybe that's too pie-in-the-sky.
I have a question, based on the concept of "walking in/like Christ"
Can you still live that life without attending mass/service? How can you stay on the path and block out the foolishness you get from the periphery of church life (gossip, etc.)?
BTW: I thought Sam and Dean Winchester put Lucifer back in the pit![]()
If you are a TRUE Christian and yet your assemblage is with folks that are PLAY Christians, are you really fulfilling the "assembling of ourselves together" component? ;;To me, that whole assemblage thing is why so many folks believe they can do whatever they want yet come 11am on Sunday morning, just the action of sliding into that pew saves their soul and makes them loads better than the person keeping to themselves and not attending church.
Lots of whoring, fornicating, adultery, stealing, lying, coveting, disrespect INSIDE the church walls...new trend of sacrificing the one speaking out against the wrongness, instead of facing the issue esp within leadership (Passa)
We can go back and forth ad nauseum, but we each have to live our lives, create the walk we want with who we believe is our God and eternity will be ours or not. I've long wiped the dust from my feet of what folks think. If my life doesn't get me into Heaven, it just doesn't....no outside opinions needed....
I still don't understand why people don't believe in God.
Sign of the times....
I'm a former Christian. .I changed my beliefs but I believe I'm still worshipping the same God that I was before. I'd never become an atheist, too much evidence of a higher power FOR ME. Ever since I denounced my belief in Satan, Lucifer etc. My life has gotten easier. Every"negative" thing that happens to me is a result of a choice I made or my perception of what's happening. Greatest thing to ever happen to me. My question for the Christians is, do all of the world religions worship the same God but follow different rules and rituals or are their multiple gods? If the latter is correct, how do we know which one is"right"? I'd like to believe I'll go to heaven even tho I'm no longer a Christian. I'd like to think both heaven and hell are a state of mind/being/consciousness. My belief is that the Supreme being is like an ocean and humans are waves. .we can't separate ourselves from which we came no matter how much we try.
I'm not an atheist bnb..I'm just not into organized religion. I was just asking a question. My"salvation" is not my worry. Lol
And who taught you all to act like animals?
Yes it is and this is as well as what the Supreme Court is about to do. This will pave the way for Christian persecution in America.
Because not believing in God gives them justification to live in sin and feel no conviction about it. The devil is leading them and they are to blind to realize it. But there is good news one day every knee will bow and every tongue shall confess the Jesus Christ is Lord.
Your narrow view on this issue may be driving people away from the church. Most Americans believe in the separation of church and state. I don't get the persecution part. Lol...the discriminator is the persecuted. The Supreme Court ruling sanctioning same sex marriage has no affect on my relationship with Jesus.
“Justification to live in sin?” I wish you would explain that one, because what it means to me I can say the same thing about Christians. REAL history has shown Christians will do whatever, to whomever, and whenever without any regrets especially if you contradict the generally accepted cherry picked standards (sin) of that particular Christian group. Christianity is a system with an escape clause, a loophole, the concept of being “forgiven” for whatever you do . . . again as long as it’s in the confines of that particular group.
Christianity is a cowardly system because you don’t have to do anything uncomfortable as showing atonement to people you’ve done wrong. Nope, just say I’m sorry to your sky daddy thinking he will straighten out your mess for you and keep it moving. You don’t even have to care if your transgressions towards another gets fix or not. As long as you can keep the elitist attitude and the promise of getting accepted to the ultimate social club known as “Heaven,” you don’t have to be responsible for your actions. You can hurt as many people as you want just as long you attend a building 4 times a month. The Christian way is not to ask God for some money, you go steal it from somebody else and ask God to forgive you. But that not a justification for sin . . . please.
I refused to believe there is a so-called supreme being that would be all right with this. If so, there is nothing supreme about this being.
