FCS Attendance 2014

Here's some ATTENDANCE numbers directly as reported to the NCAA by each school.
You can use this information in your debate.
My personal take on the attendance subject is that the "JAGUAR NATION" needs to attend our home games the way we travel Jackson, New Orleans and our other SWAC opponents stadiums.
We can take 25-30 thousand fans to Jackson; 40-55 thousand fans to New Orleans; take up at least 30% of the stadium at most others SWAC schools but only put 16 thousand fans in Mumford stadium because we don't like the opponent. Something is wrong with that.
Click HERE for the NCAA report on attendance from 2003 to 2014. Both schools were among the leaders doing this period.

I agree that jsu has had some great home numbers over the years. I also agree and vaguely remember them reaching that 38K home attendance pinnacle years ago. I believe Coach Dumbbell had irreparable damage on jsu's home attendance and perhaps aging attrition may have had an impact as well. However having said that, jsu home attendance is better than most in the FCS. And yes, jsu has won several attendance title over the years.

Jag football fans are very astute in some instances and set in their way in others. If S.U. doesn't place a decent product on the field chances are the numbers will suffer as the season progress. Also, if a d-2 squad shows up on the home schedule (even worse if it's a d-2 PWC) the numbers will dip. You're right though, the Jaguar Nation loves to hit the road in certain places. I remember a few years back at Alcorn there was attendance of 33K when he played them (yeah Alcorn.....lol).

Fixed. And here we find the problem of problems.

Has SU ever led all I-AA colleges and universities in home attendance with an average of 38,873 per game? When It comes to attendance, JSU has "Been There, Done That"!

O, JSU has never sold beer at it's stadium.
Ur right about JSU having the attendance banner way more than SU. SU as only been coming in before JSU lately but JSU is always or usually first in swac and SU and Alabama state Second and third. Also JSU did once sell beer at its games. Actually during the beginning of Ron Mason era. And if I can recall one year during Myers era with that being the 100 years anniversary year and I think that was due to the fact that Coors Light was a major sponsor that particular year.

That's deceiving. su doesn't field the allotted number of non-revenue teams, which allows it to turn that money into actual revenue.
Also those stats don't take into account how individual schools count revenue.

This doesn't make any sense. Non-revenue generating programs have ZERO impact on the total revenue. With or without non-revenue generating programs the revenue SHALL remain the same. The only thing that goes up is expenses, which means less PROFIT. Some of these delusional characters have very poor FINANCIAL understanding.

Here's a sample question for those that don't understand what changes revenue: If a person decides not to buy a new car over buying a new car, would that have an affect on that person's income/revenue???

Hey jayrob, per USA Today's data, the percentages shown below will tell you which public HBCU has relied less on subsidized funds when it comes to athletic revenue. Also, from 2005 to 2013 there's only one public HBCU who's revenue source was not over 50% subsidized.

Yea when they winning!! I know they mentality! Ok Vet Memorial holds 60k of course they can hold 38k. At Mumford we will never average 38k. Why?!! Because Mumford only holds 29K. Yea u can say well Southern has a losing season there crowd attendance is down. True!! But if jackson aint winning they aint comin!! Ive seen where if our team has a losing season we still will lead the swac in attendance. Even in 2012 we lead the conference in attendance and thats with Stump was our coach. Like i said in jackson case yea they might lead the conference in attendance the ONLY I mean ONLY reason because there having a good season. AINT KNOW FANS LIKE THE JAGUAR NATION!! THATS REAL!! O yea check out James Bell era and see jackson attendance was back then!!

Look at the USA today report. One school is head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to revenue.

Don't trust those numbers. At all. I don't see anything at SU(or any other school in that swac) that shows they're head and shoulders above the rest of the swac in revenue or resources.
No smack.

No smack, but I think USA Today has done an excellent job in compiling the data that shows the athletic financial health of all D-1 public institutions. I would have given them a superior rating if they would have included D-1 private institutions.

Lol literally, EVERYTHING always gotta turn into JSU vs SU on almost every thread. Too many dam egos and too much pride from both sides. Yall kneewgrows need to learn how to let stuff go and move forward. Some of the stuff we argue about is jus old and tired. Honestly, it's not always that serious lol.

Might as well be a Jackson State/Southern Forum somewhere for all the shit yall come up wit lol.

If jackson knew they role it wouldnt b an issue. Smh

What's really funny is how some folks in that other conference think that going to the playoff while most of its athletic programs are being heavily subsidized or on welfare makes them equal. They have four (4) schools who athletic programs are over 80% subsidized.

Did you actually just type that and actually believe it? You mean it doesn't cost to feed players, for lodging, for gas, for uniforms, for equipment? Where's that funding coming from?
You can twist words around but in the end, it costs to field teams when you look at the overall ledger.
That's like saying it doesn't cost to fund FCS post season games.

Well we all see how thats turning out for them. Glad we have a lot more sense here in the SWAC lol.

Unbelievable that you'd make such comments.

You do realized what you just typed relates to EXPENSES, not revenue. You prove your lack of intelligence whenever you type something.
