Fantastic job! Let's hope the administration continues to support him. Recall, he wouldn't accept the job until they agreed to some conditions like increasing the budget, number of scholarships etc.. He has things other Alcorn coaches never had. .

But still.... :)
 
In my opinion he has done a great job. I can say the recruiting has been easier with his coaches. The tale of the story will be this year. If he has another successful season, does not have to win a championship I don't think the Braves can hold on to him. He was courted this off season and decided this is where he wanted to be from a life style perspective. I would not think that he has a financial worry just the drive to compete at a higher level and one could not blame him.

Courted by who? I think he is safe at Alcorn. I can't see any teams wanting him and he knows that. Also, most people will see that his records are inflated. The last two years, he could have easily been just 7-4 if he had played decent out of conference teams. I think any AD or person in charge of scheduling will see that.

I have to give the man props for playing USM this year and competing. I would much rather see us play a poor FBS team than 2 d-2 programs. I think Alcorn has already stepped it up though in their non conference scheduling for future games. Hopefully the trend will continue with their rise in competing. I believe some good day are ahead in the SWAC.
 
I have a feeling he will become USM head coach after USM relieve there coach of his duties. USM is still paying off there last coach contract and can't afford to buy out there current one but Hopson will get that JOB but he has made brave country earn respect !!!

USM wanted Hopson after they saw they cheated a win against us. Hopson love the job at Alcorn because it is a win-win situation for him He is 48 miles from home (Vicksburg). Then he just got a SWAC Championship under his belt. If he leaves Alcorn it will be for a FBS school. He was Jeff Bower DC at USM before Bower got fired. He would make 3 times more money at USM but he would have to rebuild that whole team. Alcorn had more talent in every position than USM except safeties and QB.

USM is not going to hire Hopson. Why would they? USM needs 1-A coach. One that recruit and win at a high level. Hopson does not give them that edge. USM is paying decent money. They could get Power 5 OC or DC. Why would they get Hopson? Winning at Alcorn is a miracle.. LOL but not worthy of a 1-A job. USMs problem is talent. CUSA is a bottom feeder conference now. So recruiting to USM will be hard. You will need one hell of a recruiter to come to USM and win.

Yall really beat USM. Golden eagles cheated like hell. Smh. I'm glad to see a non traditional coach show he's happy being at an HBCU. Other fcs schools have white coaches and they be there for years, just because a white guy is coach at an hbcu doesn't mean after he wins he has to leave or he's using them as a stepping stone. Congratulations Alcorn you all deserve a top notch football program because you all did not give up on the program as some others did!

Well, let Jay Hopson win the SWAC this year, let USM fire their coach and then let's revisit this thread. I do think Hopson will get a courtesy interview tho. USM has many things to overcome. #1 they need a RECRUITER! USM has the coaching but being in Conference USA is a horrible place to be right now. USM really needs to be on their hands and knees trying to get into the American Conference.

Not true. I supported **** since he was the JSU head coach just like I will support OMJ. I agreed with the firing of both Hughes and the firing of Comegy.
