college football dynasties - playoff impact

Man that son of a gun got his teeth out cheezing and looking like a scare crow at the same time. All he need is one of those Morgan Freeman butler hats on his head to complete the deal. Leave it up to someone from Alabama to put that in his signature (wth? no shame). :emlaugh:

How long will it be before the big schools start arguing about the playoffs?

Will there be another episode of 2 teams from the same conference in the championship game?

5 major conferences, 4 teams, 1 conference will be left out......and they know it won't be the SEC.

Scenario.....What if USC and Oregon meet for the PAC 12 championship and both teams are undefeated. The game goes into double overtime and Oregon wins by a FG, 45-42. Can USC make the playoffs as a 1 loss team?

Scenario 2.....Suppose Mich St loses to Oregon in Sept. but goes on to win the B10 with only 1 loss on the season. Oregon drops 3 games. Does Mich St. get the playoff bid or do they lose it on SOS????

This is just the beginning. They will add more teams once the finalize the Power 5 rules. They will play for there own national title in the future. Also hearing only power 5 schools will play each other out of conference. This is all about money and they intend on shutting out the lesser FBS level schools. The 4 team playoff is temporary. Right now everybody is eligible for it in FBS. The experts say the SEC will not have 2 teams in the playoffs this year anyway. Top 4. Whoever loses that SEC title game will be ass out this year. Unless there a lot of 2 loss teams in the other conferences. The Big 12 has no title game. So unless OU wins it. I think they would screw over Baylor because of their schedule and not being a traditional power. Folks expect Fla State to win the ACC. Bama to win the SEC. The PAC 12 will be Oregon, UCLA or Stanford. Big Ten will be Ohio state or Mich State. It is going to be real important for folks to run the table. A bunch of 1 loss teams will cause some issues. I still think the Big 12 is the odd conference out if someone other than OU or Texas wins it.

Yup..eventually it'll go to 16 teams with the FBS conference champs getting auto-bids...

Besides, I like Stanford's chances in a playoff-type environment.

All this money being made off these playoffs and people still get mad when ya bring up giving the players a slice.

This is pro football dressed as amateurism.

Why our black kids go to these school and play ball to put money in these white folks pockets...to only receive pennies...

One thing Shaw will let you know is pro coaches are his role models (i.e. Bill Walsh, Dennis Green etc.). His role models are certainly not coaching on the college level in the South. :emlaugh: (just thought about that when you talked about Stanford and I guess playoffs juxtaposed to Shaw/Stanford precipitated the thought). :noidea:  :emlaugh:

Facilities, money and television are the chiefly the catalyst for this. Your premise negates the fact that everyone doesn't have the same values and social comittments that many of us do. The larger and more complex question is how do we reverse the trend that started over 4 decades ago. There are no easy remedies to this problem and it may be irreversible. Something extremely radical in our society would have to happen that I don't see or can contemplate.

What is that the Alabama 2014 version of driving Miss Daisy? Have you no shame? :emlaugh:

He was hired during the Bryant era and has been the personal assistant to every coach since. You are probably looking at a future millionaire. Can you imagine the book that he could write about Bama football? Top notch guy and very respected by the coaches, alumni, fans, and players.

I expect it to go to 8 teams within the next 3-5 years after an instance or two when a 2 loss Big 10 team gets in over a 1-2 loss SEC team that lost in the title game and won their division.

16 teams might be down the road because of the bowls but I think some teams/conferences will sue if all FBS teams remain eligible for it under the NCAA umbrella (even though it's not a "NCAA" run title)
