Mississippi High School Football Championships leaving Jackson!(Memorial Stadium)

So why would it not rotate back to Jackson....racist move no doubt.

No doubt about it.

Like some guy who hit me up (who was white) said, this is nothing more than a power move/recruiting tool for the Big 3 (and really the Big 2).

Why not rotate it among the smaller schools as well? (which oddly enough one has a bigger stadium than the school in Hattiesburg)

Now who is surprised, we all knew this was going to happen the minute JSU took control of the stadium.

What is the average attendance for the 5A or 4A championship game around 15-16,000?

this should be another reason to build JSU a dome, why wouldn't u want to keep one if the largest events in the state in the most centralized and populous part of the state? I guess if Ole Piss don't have one, JSU don't need one !

:lmao:

If JSU doesn't build themselves a dome, they'll never get one.

I don't think they had made an official announcement yet but it will probably be forthcoming soon. So I appears that there have been some rumblings about Jackson being the "permanent" host site. Heck even with JSU officially running the Stadium it is for all essential purposes still a "neutral site" in terms of recruitment of those HS Athletes! So now those Athletes will be playing on the campus of Ole Miss, MS State and USM which is a very bias thing to do in terms of recruitment. Why move the game away from the media center of the State?! It makes you wonder if there are any Blacks in this decision making process? And if so who are they?

You ask a good question, which a lot of your colleagues refuse to ask.

IMO, the so-called Blacks in the decision making process have just enough clout to get in a position to get their pockets lined. The White power structure has diminished the Black voting power so much in States that have a large percentage of Black population that it has gone beyond incomprehensible.

Makes absolutely no sense. Think of how far a team on the coast would have to drive to get to Olé Miss or State. Just like with any other college decision in this state, the HBCU's are never considered. Hell I think these backwards folks would play it at Delta St. before they would bring it to Valley or Alcorn.

UPDATED: Ole Miss, Mississippi State, USM likely to host state football
PREPS SPORTS REPORT
Courtney Cronin, 9:41 a.m. CDT July 11, 2014

...The MHSAA's executive director Don Hinton has not confirmed that the championships are leaving Jackson but indicated an announcement on the future of the football championships should come out soon.

The sources said that Mississippi State and Ole Miss will split hosting duties in the new five-year rotation, which is set to begin this December and will rotate yearly between Starkville and Oxford from 2014 through 2017.

It's believed that Southern Miss will host the state championship in 2018, as well as the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic in 2015 and 2017.

The big question is are ya'll Mississippi folks going to do about this! Ya'll need to come together and fight this. Adding Roberts Stadium at USM and leaving Memorial out of this rotation is just pathetic. USM's M.M. Roberts Stadium 36K http://www.sports-venue.info/sitebuilder/images/Roberts_Stadium_2-579x355.jpg JSU's Memorial Stadium 65k+ http://www.draftnasty.com/files/9213/1740/9497/MS_Veterans_Memorial_home_of_the_TSU_Tiger.JPG

The number of seats in the stadium is irrelevant. The high championship games won't even fill half of USM's stadium so capacity is not a problem. I'll be willing to bet the amenities at USM's smaller stadium are better than Veterans Memorial. MSU and OM stadiums are definitely better and (with MSU's expansion) are practically the same size as Memorial.

Also, holding the championship games in Jackson are not seen as a JSU event. The championship games were held in Memorial long before the stadium was given to JSU. JSU has never capitalized on the games being held in Memorial or utilized them to promote JSU.

I'm thinking the best JSU can hope for at this point is to get a new stadium and ask to be in the rotation once their stadium is built.

That's what I was thinking too. They may have just decided to move the game because of those are better facilities. I am sure if JSU had their dome or a stadium that was in a better condition, they probably could have petitioned to be included in the rotation.

I don't know dude. You might be right, but I just don't think those Mississippi State Flag Lovers wanted Jackson State University's name affiliated with the event. The foot really started pressing the gas when JSU was named operator.

On the outside looking in, I really don't want JSU to build a dome. I have always loved the HBCU Gameday Experience at Memorial.

JSU could still ask to be one of the hosts of the championship games if they built a 20,000 to 30,000 seat open air stadium on campus. There wouldn't be any legitimate reason to deny them.

:smh:...once again, a wasted opportunity for an HBCU to capitalize. We drunk too much of that 90s Kool-Aid. The white folks have always wanted JSU because it's in the Capital City with basically no competition from Millsaps, Belhaven, Mississippi College etc.

Then these white folks wonder why people moving the hell out Mississippi :smh:. Phil Bryant and Haley Barbour were worst than Jindal and Rick Perry combined.
