Freshmen to look out for

I mean....same here on Lynch street. We lost less than 10 guys off of a team that was 8-0 in league play and were East champs. Frosh will have to play lights out to even sniff special teams here, let alone actually audition for a skill position. I like one of the qb's we recruited but unless they are Casey O in the flesh and get past Ivy, they will be holding a clip-board for the fall 2014 season lol. Any team that is depending on frosh will probably suck lmao

They might be the case if y'all didn't have a new coach. No way y'all went undefeated in league play when y'all lost to Alcorn.

I think we'll all see once camp starts what Freshman will step up for a respective teams

Yes, actually his time was a 4.82 I read. Moore definitely locked into him, whereas Ivy got the ball to D Will and others pretty good in the Tulane game. But towards the end of the season, we started seeing more of McKenzie and less of D- Will. But the kid has been putting in some work from what I've seen on IG. Hopefully it pays off.

I like McKenzie. That kid can play. Singleton to me is overrated. I think JSU will have other WRs pass him up.

Did I get something wrong??

Yall were 8-0 going into the Alcorn game.

Like DGTM said, we're gonna have to throw a lot of freshman into the fire (especially on the offensive side) and hope they respond. We do have key players returning on both sides that will help them out.

Coach Burroughs (our real HC) is not too fond of playing frosh for our defense.... we just don't have room for frosh to hit the field for offense unless they can contribute immediately. I agree, in about 1 month we shall see which guys step up.

I mean when you have a good number of returning starters and overall, you typically aren't going to see a true freshman come in and start unless they are a special talent.

Your team was not good tho. WHY you got to be a man child to play for a team that barely won most of it's games? Seriously.

Singleton didn't do well in our old system becasue it simply was elementary and any DC with a brain knew the 2-3 plays we ran. I don't think defenses will have that luxury this year. We have been disappointed in Singleton but I personally think that going back to the offense similar to the one we ran with Casey will get him more touches and more yards.

I just think that Singleton hasn't lived up to the expectations that he had coming in. He was one of the top players in the state when he signed with Ole Miss. But like BBF said, Moore picks one WR to lock into. It was Rico Richardson in 2012, and Pendleton in 2013. Singleton's only problem is that he falls down too much when he makes the catch. He's left about 300 yards and a few TD's on the field, because he struggles making catches in stride. I think he will have a chance to make a splash this year. I'd say he's our top WR right now.

With only 63 scholarships available, no FCS school can afford to redshirt ALL of their freshmen. There will be two or three from each school who'll make their way on the 2-deeps, and eventually start at some point due to injuries. Don't let any SWAC folks tell you differently.

Agreed. Unless you have some preferred walk ons that can step in. Now what you hope is that you don't have to call upon any of your Freshmen if you don't have too and have the redshirt option at the end of the year. But we all know one or two will end up on the field for every FCS team unless you are just that deep at every position with Jrs and Sophs backing up a Sr class.

He might be our fastest WR running a high 4.3 to low 4.4....he has come in to his own I think. The truth is, he is just a fast athlete not a true wr. With the scheme chang runs it allows receivers to get yac aka "yards after catch". His hype started in hs at Madison central. I don't think he is sorry but I don't think he's the best either however our DC had made it his mission to shut down him, perkins and fosselman in spring practice.

Comegy used to tick me off with that. You'll think a kid is redshirting because he's not making plays on offense or defense....then the Alcorn game rolls around, and you see him out there on special teams. LOL. What a waste!

But you don't speak the truth. LOL.

You speak TP ish. Which nobody gives any credence outside of some of your Mafia members. Even some of them don't buy what you say. LOL.

Well, I am smarter than most on TSPN .. includind most MAFIA members.. :lmao:

I explained what I meant and I doubt that anyone would pick the 2013 squad over the 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011, or 2012 squads. The 2013 squad MIGHT have been on par with the 2008 squad at best.

Especially my school (not dissing valley but just speaking the truth). We're gonna get a gauge of how good they really are on Sept. 6

Marcus Perkins 5'9 185 WR
Marc Orozcon 5'9 190 P/K
Deangelo Gaston 6'2 222 DE
We redshirt a good part of our 2014 class, we have transfers to fill in some gaps
