Dude, Comegy underachieved time and time again at JSU. It was past time for him to go.
He had a losing record verses Tenn. State and was afraid to schedule quality FCS schools like Northwestern, South Carolina State, Bethune and other schools.
Heck, he couldn't even win the East with Therriault, perhaps the best QB's to come through the SWAC over the last ten years.
He didn't know X's and O's and he couldn't make simple in-game adjustments.
You'll find out in due time though.

I knew we were going to lose when Broadway returned from Duke on Monday and tried to make up for the week by having two a days from Tuesday to Friday before gameday. I lost so much respect for Broadway that week because he acted like he didn't want to be there and the players knew it. Comegy came prepared for battle and came from behind to win the title.

That next season, JSU saw what a SWAC champion should look like.

O YES, I WILL NEVER FORGET THAT 2008 CHAMPIONSHIP! I thought JSU was gonna kill Comegy before the 4th quarter!! I was ready to kick Broadway out the door when I saw he was interviewing for the FAMU job!!

This is just my personal opinion, but I can understand why the HBCU thing plays a factor. I always felt the MVSU's history was very special and unique and shouldn't have the mascot affiliated with Satan. I won't get too far into this on this thread, but history shows that many racist folks believed that the mascot was fitting for what the school represents.

That's just my one cent.


Anyway, I still want Valley to turn things around on the field.

Yeah, but his _ss was interviewing for the Duke job two weeks before SWAC title game. Boardway wasn't serious about the FAMU job. He just wanted GSU folks to know he was a wanted man and didn't want the hear our mouths if he lost games.

Casey was a good QB, but didn't handle the blitz well. I think his definitely in the top 3.

Sorry, but Casey ate the blitz up. He loved to see teams blitz. He couldn't handle zone defenses.

My take is folks will always look for an excuse not to support. If going going from Delta Devils to something else would spark more giving, then I say go for it, but sadly folks will find another excuse.

Alabama St had a Cover 2 defense, 2 All American safeties and Casey threw right at them..Also Bama St had the one of the leagues worst run defenses with the best pass defense that year and Comegy allowed Wilson full control over the offense to call pass plays the entire game. Gooden gained 6 or 7 yards a carry but couldnt get the coaches to call his number consistently..Thats what was so frustrating with Comegy teams..

Because he never played against it in practice. He never had anyone to teach him to throw against zones. He relied on what he had before Comegy got hold of him.

The offensive line will have Gregory Black coaching up what's already there along with 8 newbies to work with. Anyone who pays attention to field details can clearly see that Black knows how to teach good fundamentals. My JSU alum-friends who have been around the program tell me that he has ways of making his lineman believe that they can play against any d line in the nation. I would think Valley folks are excited about him having 8 lineman on the roster to work with for 4 years.

I think they will do well. You can smell the fear in this thread from the contingent that program is headed in the wrong direction. You will see the ascension of a program and the decline of another pretty quickly.

Some of those folks are stupid and can't handle when the obvious is stated. They'll be hiding with their heads in the sand by the middle of the season. They know damn well Valley has upgraded and they have down graded and act offended when they see it in writing. :smh: :lol: :emlaugh:

It's going to be interesting with Comegy on the other side of the field, but Jackson State still has plenty of Comegy's talent on the roster.
