Dozens of People Attended Georgia Tech's Spring Football Game

Georgia has owned Georgia Tech mainly because of talent. It has really been like that for the last 50 years, and I do not see things changing anytime soon. I think that Mark Richt has had a better recruiting strategy than Vince Dooley did. Dooley mainly filled recruiting needs while passing on some very good players that could have helped Georgia. Richt will fill the needs but will also go after the best players available more so than Dooley did.

Whenever GT has a change to beat UGA like last season, they need to do it or else wait a few years.

I agree with everything except the last sentence. Tech has shown that the "talent" UGAg has is not much to overcome. But that is generally the deciding factor. However, we won't be competing with GA for talent.. we understand that. However, we have been the better coached team hands down. If Johnson had just a little more talent, UGA and all of the talent would be gettin whooped.

Paul Johnson calling Jameis Winston:

"So we hand the ball off or run it 97 percent of time. We'd love to have you in our system."

#1, we don't need a Jameis Winston but with the right personnel we will beat Florida State. It has not even been two years since FSU escaped with a 21-15 win over Tech in the ACC championship game. Granted, the game was not as close as the score indicates in my opinion but again, this shows that our offense works and can WIN games.
Also, a "Winston" should go to look at the offense himself to see how he fits in becasue Johnson would never say what you quoted. He will talk about the benefits of being a dual threat QB.

How come nobody else aside from the Irish in '88 has won the national title running that offense?

What about those '90s Nebraska teams? To my disdain they shared the National Championship with Michigan in '97. Colorado was pretty good back then to with Kordell Stewart and Rashaam Salom.

Timely article.

ATLANTA -- Everything about it still says "old school": The minimal use of shotgun, the lack of passing, even the Russell Athletic logo on the jerseys that seems straight out of the '90s. Talking about Georgia Tech's under-center triple-option style of football requires delving into a lot of fact vs. perception, but in terms of appearances, at least, it has the look of a bygone era.

Dude, Georgia came back and beat ya'll with their back-up QB and a team full of injuries.

Those teams were stacked with talent and speed, and had arguably the best coach in College Football history coaching them. Georgia Tech has none of that.

So what? Our team was not 100% either AND I already said that out talent has been lacking lately. BUT people really slept on this last class that Johnson hauled in. If he can pull a few more like that, we will win more games.

Yes, but Georgia Tech doesn't have a Hall-of-Fame coach on their staff and show-stopping talent like Osborne had at Nebraska.

Johnson is one of the best coaches in college football. Without looking, I would venture to say that his only losing season was his first year at Navy. He has 1-AA national championships and he does a lot with a little. His first year at Tech, everyone expected doom and gloom yet he kicked azz!

TP trying to defend that small time football program in Atlanta. LOL. I bet Morehouse had just as many folks at their spring game. ~snicker~

JR, you know I am quite intimate with the Buckeye program... was even a "fan" for for years... but now that Philly Brown and Roby and done, ummmm I can be honest about how over-rated that program is. Do you think THAT defense can handle Tech's triple option? As our defense gets better, we will be a consistent top 25 team again.

That was exact my expression when I read that. He needs to take off those gold and white glasses. Paul Johnson is 47-32 at Georgia Tech. His two best years were when he went 9-4 in 2008 and 10-3 in 2009 (his first 2 seasons) ever since then they have barely made it above .500.

2008 9-4 Lost Bowl Game

2009 10-3 ACC Champs Lost Bowl Game

2010 6-7 Lost Bowl Game

2011 8-5 Lost Bowl Game

2012 7-7 Won Bowl Game

2013 7-6 Lost Bowl Game

They also went 1-5 in bowl games, so obviously that extra 3 weeks of preparation completely renders that triple option attack useless in the post-season. GT fired Chan Gailey (44-32) just to have pretty much the same result with the great Paul Johnson (47-32). lol

Dude, we will beat the isht out of Ga Tech. LOL. We can stop the run. We had problems with the passing game. LOL. You don't want none of Ohio State dude. Urban can run his second team out there and beat Yech.

Blowouts or not, 9 out of 10 is dominant in my eyes. Most of the time it appears that Georgia completely shut down the GT offense save for 2008, 2010, and 2013( Georgia full of injuries).

uuum, I never said it wasn't dominant. LOL Its very dominant! but MY point is for UGAg to supposedly be a football mecca and for Tech to be for the rooty poots, they shole do struggle against us. The way you all talk, UGAg should be beating us like JSU beats Alcorn (by 3-4 TDs). However, the games play out like two evenly matched squads. 6 of the games we lost were determined by 6, 7, 3, 6, 6, and 6 points. Then you say they shut our offense down? Ummm if the games are that close, that goes both ways.

Stopping the option and stopping the triple option are technically TWO different things. The secondary plays a BIG part in stopping the triple option becasue majority of the time, confusion in the front seven allows the RBs/QBs to get into the second level of the defense rather easily. Those DBs also get lulled to sleep and soon forget that they have to defend the pass. #4 stepped up for ya'll last year on defense but without Roby on that other side, that secondary gonna get schooled next year.

..also, you all must realize that it takes SMART kids to run the triple option which is why it works at Tech.

No need to spin it becasue I already mentioned. it. We lose bowl games because when teams get 3-4 weeks to prepare for us, they can stop the triple option. I SAID that was one of the downfalls of the scheme.

Next!

You don't think I recognize that? That is why I SAID Johnson has two more years MAX to get us back to winning 9 and 10 games. The school is committed to helping him. I think that article even mentioned that we have increased the recruiting personnel and the support to where it was 4-5 years ago. We have a new AD and he is not ready to give up on Johnson yet. Our problem IS defense and the lack of a fast WR with hands. Ted Roof and company will get the defense on point. Im very excited about the defense this year even with the loss of people like Young and Atouchou (however you spell that..)

Good luck. There are a lot of coaches in the ACC that might be on the hot seat very soon.
