Marcus Smart shoves Texas Tech "Superfan"

Talent mostly always trump character lol

I agree to a certain point, but $$$$ will drop. First he's not a pg in which he came back to improve that aspect of his game. Is he a pick 10 pick now??? Including all the foreigners in draft which last year those players were pick in the second round Smart might still be lottery pick but he is making it hard on owners, and gen mgrs. he better hope he is not suspended for the season then his stock will drop.

This aint the first and it won't be the last time a player makes a mistake as well as some racist yelling slander. If this dude can play best believe some NBA owner wants him. The worse thing he could do in my eyes is apologize....

A similar incident happen not too long ago and I said the same thing must have happen to trigger such an incident. A person on here started questioning me why is it okay for Blacks to call each other the N-word, but not okay when a White person does it. My reply to him was, "I not sure, since I didn't write the rules on who can say the N-word".

I'll admit that I should have simply told the refs and my coaches, but I wouldn't apologize. It's easy to say he was wrong when we're not the one's that was being called the N-word. I'm not saying he was right....but I understand.

This is rich. LOL!

Of course Smart is still a Lottery pick.

He might not have been right, but I think most people on here would agree with you. And from what I have seen, Marcus Smart seems to be a pretty mild temper young man. I follow Oklahoma State because of Markel Brown, who basically grew up across the street from my parent's house and plays on Oklahoma State team. I knew both of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Eggins.

The guy's lucky he wasn't punched in the face rather than pushed. Many 18-22 year old Black males would've jumped up swinging after hearing those words from a White boy....right or wrong.
Now I wonder if anything's going to happen to the fan.
Stephen A. Smith says Smart should get a 3-5 game suspension. He sounded REALLY uncle tomish after saying that. I wonder what he would've done at the age of 20 if a White boy called him a n**ger while standing a few feet away.
He got suspended from ESPN for saying "ni**er but he wants Smart suspended for reacting to the very word he was suspended for?! Please!

I agree that Smart should face some sort of suspension on the grounds that he confronted the fan and pushed him. The length? Who knows what's really appropriate. But, I also believe the fan should be disciplined by the school or the B12 for his behavior in provoking Smart.

I wanna say Stephen A. wasn't aware of the N-word aspect, but I ain't sure. But I'm guessing even today Stephen A. woulda done worse than Smart did.

Some people get tired of turning the other cheek. Thats the reason why others are so comfortable in using the word now, because they think they can get away with. I'm proud of this young brother for not turning the cheek this time....

The real story is how Oklahoma State's team has completely bombed out. They have completely fallen apart just like Oregon and Baylor.

I'm with you, I'd like to think that SA didn't know what was said when he made that comment.

My thought: I'm thinking M. Smart has played in enough hostile environments to the point that he has probably heard more than his fair share of not so kind words. You've got to really say something pretty foul to want to push another fan like Smart did. And if what we are hearing about this fan is true, I don't blame Smart for the shove. Could it have led to something more violate...yes, but this is college. These are kids. They are not getting paid. This is not the NBA. Marcus Smart didn't sign up for this.

If I'm any of those black kids on the Texas Tech team, I'm thinking to myself that the only difference between me and Marcus Smart are the colors of the uniform that I am wearing. It could have easily been one them that fan told to "go back to Africa."

Yes it is. Oklahoma State was in the Top 5 not too long ago, and has completely fallen apart. This shoving incident (whether justified or not) combined with their fall from grace will most definitely be placed on Marcus Smart.

Nobody really cares about Okie St. dropping in the rankings.

It matters to the alum and booster that donate money to the school. Who are still ticked off from the Jameson Curry era.

Smart going to the draft doesn't matter to them and yes this will reflect on his drafting position. If he thought what that fan said was bad-wait till the Knicks, 76ers and a few other NBA towns get a hold of him.

Not every team wants to put up with that or have we forgotten Royce White & Andrew Bynum. There is a reason OJ Mayo got ran out of Dallas.

Talent can only get you so far. How many talented guys have done nothing for teams?

I wouldn't trust him on the Bucks. If he gets on a veteran run lottery team-I would be more hopeful for him.

Here is the thing on that. We don't know who that fan is or who he is connected to. If he got certain folk's ears-Smart could be one and done without it being his choice.

Well they are free to leave and any recruit seeing that should be looking at other options as well. Let Tech run out an all white guy team and see how well that works.

What has Smart done so egregious other than kick a chair or push a fan who supposedly stood near him while calling him a "ni**er? Has he been arrested for drugs, drunk driving or rape?

Folks blow small things out of proportion just because the media does it, even when we know why they do it.

I am surprised someone of his generation would get upset by the N word, since they use it as a.common word. If he was much older I could understand him being upset.
