We have enough to hire a good coach on this level. Comegy made more than a lot of the top FCS coaches.

Thats your opinion. If the next coach does his job and helps us maximize revenue, 250 is a bargain. IF he doesn't, 75k is too much.

A lot will depend on where he's hired from and his previous salary. It's dumb to take a guy making 65k and triple his salary, but what if the guy we want is already making 200k at his current job?

I'm so glad for Coach Comegy. No more pain. He played this every day while staying in Jackson, Mississippi. Just goes to show you that believing will lead to greener pastures.

While I agree it could be too much money, it depends on what you want for that money and WHO you are paying the money to.

For a lot of these SWAC coaches, like Dawson Odums for example, the average teachers salary is too much money. But if we want to upgrade our coaching, we have to pay real money. 250k is a reasonable amount for JSU if we make the right hire.

$250 isn't just for the SWAC. We have plans other than the SWAC.

My question is, where are they going? Are there any conference out there that is begging them to join their conference? First it was the delusional idea of joining C-USA, I guess now it's either Southland, OVC, MEAC, or Independent. Other than going DII or DIII, are there anymore options out there for them?

1st off, you can count out the OVC and the Southland because they are scared of those people. TNST is the only school that they will schedule out of the two. I think the most logical conference for jsu to move to is the SIAC. Tuskegee will not let jsu run roughshod through their conference though.

And their travel budget would be crazy in the MEAC. Last time I saw jSU get spank by a MEAC school, their band didn't travel with them and that was like in 2002 against NCA&T in Greensboro, NC. I felt bad sitting in the stands watching a MEAC school dog out a SWAC school like that. It was completely embarrassing, especially when NCA&T’s band announcer said jSU’s band was too scared to travel. If it was too much for their band to travel to Greensboro, NC, other than FAMU, BCC, and South Carolina State, the other MEAC schools are a lot further from Jackson, MS.

Yes, I ruled out the MEAC because of the distance. If they go anywhere (which I seriously doubt), it will be to the SIAC.

They could always join the CSFL conference, which is the same conference Langston University has membership. It's a NAIA conference mainly made up of Texas and Oklahoma schools. But for other sports, Langston plays in the Red River Conference, which is the same conference LSUS and LSUA has membership. If they do like Langston, I guess that would allow me a chance when I'm visiting home to watch them get spanked by the Generals (LSUA).
