An interesting video on the Turkey Day Classic Debate

Skegee Alum Carl Ray went all out on this debate. For some people, especially the older Alumni from both sides that are making money, this is very serious. It's funny, I've heard players that played for Skegee during the early 90s say that they hated playing in the Classic. Nevertheless, the debate goes on...

Moderators, for your information this is not smack at all. Please check it out before you move this like you did on my other thread....please...

Oh. I didn't know Skegee didn't get anything for participating in the ncaa playoffs, but this gentleman brought up VERY valid points. I don't understand that decision at all, but oh well.

 to Mr. Carl Ray

Personally, I think that collegiate playoffs on all levesl are a joke, that includes the FCS and the soon-to-be FBS playoffs. I agree with the position that college football already has a playoff . . . it starts in September, and ends in late November . . . its called the "season".

Very valid points. I can understand his wanting to know the reasoning behind Skegee's decision to go to the playoffs.

Let's say all things being equal or the same (i.e. games stilled play on NBC or ESPNU), all events and THE MONEY is the same, but the games are played on a different weekend. You mean to tell me that the Bayou and Turkey Day Classics can't be move to accommodate the NCAA Playoffs?

Oh, I have no fight in this nor do I care. I am just implying a different view.

2000, I'm with u about no dog in this fight, but I can understand why they have the BC & TDC that week. I mean, people are coming home for the holidays and it's pretty much a tradition. Kinda wish JSU & Alcorn would play that Friday after Thanksgiving. You would have 3 great SWAC games that week.

Of course if everything is the same. But how do you guarantee everything stays the same (money, attendance and TV)?

I asked about playoffs when I got actively involved in sTu athletics again. Once it was explained to me the economics of it on the FCS level I was okay with us not participating. I was always taught to never pay and play. Either I play or I pay but never both.

Valid point

He made some good points but for the record we raised ticket prices 10 dollars in each section. Other then that spot on.

Now Tuskegee is in the same boat as the MEAC schools. You gave up the payday for the allure of the playoffs and playing for a championship. It's going to be interesting to see if they stick with it...

Skegee gave up this atmosphere :emlaugh:

You know them mugs negotiating :emlaugh: That's probably the reason Skegee's President left and also employees getting laidoff.

Im sorry...did I miss the atmosphere? Two ground hunching bands marching in...whats atmospheric about that?

Well hell, we just got a new president today. Dr. Gwendolyn Boyd is the first female President in #MyASU's 146 year history, and from the reactions on Twitter, she is well liked and received. All I ask is we at least let the ink on her contact dry before they bombard her with renegotiation,if that is the case.

Nice video, but its short sighted. He has a bunch of MADE UP numbers to support his claim yet he didnt show
any positives or residual effects for going to the playoffs. The best cash he could show was a 100K payout from the TDC
but he ended up with 5 million? Now thats a leap

From what I'm reading she is a great choice... She is alum and she use to be national president of Delta Sima Theta. I hope ASU and the governors office lets her do her job!

Excellent presentation by Mr. Carl Ray. I would go one step further and say those administrators who made the decision to opt out of the Turkey Day Classic should be given the option of immediate resignation or termination.
