Took care of what? We could easily have scheduled someone else in their place. The only reason we schedule Northwestern State was because he wanted to re-start the rivalry with them. That schedule slot could have easily been filled with another school. Also we only have openings in our schedule for the 1st two weeks and the 2 weeks before the Bayou Classic(during the 12-game seasons). Could it be that maybe Southeastern and Nicholls just didn't have matching openings in their schedules?

That's only because we didn't give them a return game. Southern is not McNeese’s biggest problem, it is LSU and ULL. No matter how good McNeese’s football program is, LSU is has made them so insignificant that they are stuck where they are and will never be able to move up. Soon or later as other fcs programs move up, eventually McNeese will start losing recruits and coaches to those programs. Although they own ULL in the series against them, McNeese would never be on their level, since they can’t move up.

Earlier, y'all quoted Broussard as saying that he approached all 4 of the Louisiana SLC schools about a game, but only Northwestern was interested...

Why is that, do you think?

You can't have it both ways. Either the SLC teams are looking for that handout Jaguar fans think they'd get by a game with SU...OR...nobody wants to schedule y'alls dishonorble asses because of the way you do business..

Broussard's a straight up guy...he wouldn't lie about approaching all four SLC schools...

Only Northwestern scheduled a game with him....

There could be many reasons why those schools didn't want to play this season, but you are just thinking it is because SU didn't give McNeese a return game. That was 8 years ago and we have since changed board members, chancellors, presidents, ADs, and coaches. Time for you to move on too.

And this comes from a person that is a conservative Republican who stated that there's no voters fraud is North Carolina. I'm sure he also voted for honest Piyush "Bobby" Jindal.

There's virtually NO part of that which is correct, aside from the fact that we've owned USL on the field.

But, leaving all that aside for a second....what in the hell does a Southern fan know about how to run a successful FCS program or about what's necessary to move up???

Hell, to hear y'all talk, you've got more resources than all the FCS schools in the SLC combined, yet the shat you put on the field got run out of Northwestern's stadium. You DO realize that Northwestern was 3-9 last year, right?

Southern needs to demonstrate they know how to fix their own damn problems before they start telling ANYBODY else what's wrong with their program.

If I want band advice or pointers on how to accessorize my purse and shoes, I'm looking to Southern to lead the way.....

Football? I don't wanna hear anything from Southern fans but crickets....

We know enough to know McNeese is stuck and can't move up. I agree that Southern needs to fix its program, but that still don't negate the fact that McNeese program has become more insignificant in Louisiana since the time LaTech, ULL, and ULM moved up. I’m glad to see you care about SU’s program so much. Keep up the good work. :tup: Maybe you could get others to care.

And I am upset that our football program isn't at a high level yet, I am proud of the fact that we have many other sports programs that are performing at a good level.

That dude is just trying to show SU how much he care. Since us Southern folks don't know anything about football, McNeese is the best football program in Louisiana.

McNeese was the only school in the SLC that could have stayed 1A based on attendance in 1982 when the NCAA began to enforce the Division 1 attendance requirements. We decided to go with the rest of the conference because a Louisiana based conference made economic sense. Being a Homecoming whore, like USL was, didn't make any sense. The only way USL stayed 1A was because of stadium capacity...

If moving up made sense, we'd do it.

If you want to talk about moving up, it makes NO sense for the SWAC to be an FCS conference. The entire conference should move up. You've got the attendance thing covered, you don't do the playoffs...so it doesn't make any sense for you to be in the FCS...

Y'all could go 1A, play the same 9 game mandate, then add a school or two and, voila! Problems solved....right?

It's not so much that I care about Southern as it is y'all are fun to toy with, kinda like pushing a slinky down the stairs...

I don't know why this is a big surprise to Some people.. I mean look at it, Where non-existent in wins outside the conference, we have some of the worse facilities (outside a few) in FCS, Our athletic departments aren't up to par, an we don't want to compete on a national level (YES!!!! FCS playoffs) and most of our presidents don't care...We have low athletic budget, I mean what do we expect to get accomplished with Middle school athletic budgets??? We cant get good recruits, an we only play in classics that we *The Swac* care about...To me the SWAC stopped caring what people thought along time ago an its sad

It's all relative....when it comes to things like "best program in the State of Louisiana," you and I speak an entirely different language and you ain't got Rosetta Stone to help you break it down into something you can understand....

I absolutely think that McNeese is the best program in the state. We do more with less than anybody. Though Nicholls will suprise the hell out of you sometimes... We'll play anybody, anywhere (except Southern, for reasons we've already listed) and we get after their ass...

USL's played LSU 22 times and needs to put out an APB on the Endzone, because they can't find the damn thing...88 quarters and NO touchdowns..ever...not even close. The only time a USL player has been in the endzone in Tiger Stadium is during pre-game warm-ups...

It only took McNeese one half of one quarter to take lead on LSU, the very first time we walked into the place...

McNeese gets a 3.2 million dollar per year subsidy from the state for football....USL gets roughly 7 million from the state.....but we score 10 points against LSU, the first half....and USL scores 3...

For those of you keeping score, that's 320 k per point for McNeese to 2 million per point for USL.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see which one is the better value. And that's not even considering head to head competition....

Tech won't play us...they can't take that chance....

ULM's played us, but they got beat...so they can't take that chance either...

Somebody else posted a link to "All time wins" that showed Southern with more wins than McNeese and a higher ranking....fair enough.....it also showed McNeese has a higher winning percentage...and that comes against SUperior competiton...you guys do remember the concept behind SUperior competition, right??

Anyway...LSU is the Pre-eminent program in Louisiana...they're the flagship and have the lions share of the resources...there's no denying that...

But, even with that, I still think my team has the best "program" based on things like consistency and honor.

I don't expect you to understand that because, frankly, it involves the concept of honor and doesn't focus on aesthetics and/or attendance...

You don't have to remind them of the drubbings they took in the series. They KNOW...and, it wasn't just ONCE....unlike Southern, they didn't punk out and run out until after the contract did! ;)
