Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Arkansas State: Game Updates - 6:00pm CT

I agree but the venom has sunk in. The team looks dazed and confused out there so they're making it easier for ASU.

That's where I'm going. I know what Ark State has done in the past years, but UAPB doesn't even look like they should be on the field with them. In comparison, Southern and Jackson State looked better against their harder FBS opponents. The whole time, I was getting at that UAPB doesn't look like the UAPB that came into Mumford last year in any form tonight.

FINAL: McNeese 53, South Florida 21

PB - McNeese is tough at home.......

Most points ever scored by a FCS school over FBS school. USF has fallen on hard times to get beat like that on their home field by a FCS team. They were a top 20 program a few years back. I guess when they fired Jim Leavitt after the player abuse scandal, they have sucked. Skip Holtz must have left this new coach with no talent. Didn't the brother from Western Kentucky take that job? Whoever the coach is, he should ashamed being beat like that by a FCS team.

Final score was UAPB 11vs ASU 62

UAPB defense scored on a fumble. Our PAT was blocked but we picked it up & ran it in for the 2pts.

TStrick's FG gave us the other 3 points.

While we didn't play very well, we did better than expected considering Ben got a little banged up. Our defense definitely missed Brandon Thurmond and Bill Ross, but it was Ross's "twin" Jerryan Harris that recovered that fumble for 6pts.

WR Cody Swain dropped several passes, 2 which would have converted back to the 1st down.

No holding calls against ASU until about early in the 3rdQ, no running into the kicker was called against ASU, and no unsportsmanlike called against #6 from ASU who kept pushing after whistle blown.

Combination of bad playing & bad calls did it for us. Hopefully this helped us see what we need to focus on going forward. Arkansas State are back-to-back Sun Belt Conference Champs and have appeared in several bowls. They had about 5 all-Sun Belt Conference players returning from last season. They also have about 25-26 freshmen & sophomores on their 2-deep roster. And since 2005, they've won all their home openers at Liberty Bank Stadium. We knew it wouldn't be easy for us. But now we'll have to get in some good practice since we'll have a short week. Hopefully everyone will have worked hard & we'll have everyone in uniform when we go to Lake Charles.

ASU is a top 50 team in my opinion, UAPB is smart to get all of the rust off before SWAC play. There are some things going on that hopefully can get rectified but in the meantime the team has to take their lumps like men and keep pushing. Hopefully Coleman can instill this type of discipline in order to put out a better product on game day. That seems to be the biggest problem for now, AGAIN :(

Looks like UAPB will start the season 0-2.
What seems to be the problem?????

The most important thing is that we learned something last night; it was a real eye opener for our team and our school. We have so much to work on and hopefully we can use last night as a tool to improve for the games ahead. It won't get any easier for us. But it is still possible for us to have a good season. We just have to go back and sharpen our sword, continue to practice good, play hard and play smart.....and utilize the skills we have.

What's going on with the 13 or so ineligible players? Will they play any this season?

We don't know really. But in this morning's paper it said those starters were not cleared by game time. Coach also said they could play in the McNeese game. But really the public does not know. Maybe we will know something tomorrow or Tuesday. That being said,if those players return I think we will be OK. Arkansas State Oline were monsters. Astate is deep- their third stringers can start on first string in the SWAC.And they got to that level by winning, having great coaches,Gus Malzahn help boost their recruiting blue chip athletes last year from Arkansas and the Memphis area. If Astate running backs were playing on a SWAC team with it's traditional weak oline play, those runners will not be successful. It all starts upfront.the Oline blocking for Astate was incredible. We lost 5 oline starters from last year. This year oline ...well be a learning curve for them.

Didn't know PB had lost so many O-linemen. How many did you lose on defense? Seems like Ark State was scoring at will but some scores was due to turnovers.
