The South's best new school? North Atlanta High cost $147 million to build

That $147 million won't mean crap if the "big heads" in the administration keep pushing teachers to focus on standardized testing instead of teaching and cooking the test scores in the end. Still gonna be a lot of under-educated students being churned out. Just my take.

Not sure what you mean by "best new school". Best building? Best parking deck? Best view of Atlanta skyline? Seriously, let's not declare something the "best" soley on bricks and mortar, before it even opens.

One of the best high schools in America (for about the last 15 years now) is located in a rough part of town in Montgomery, Alabama, in an old but historic building that decades ago was the first public high school for black people in segregated Montgomery. The name of the school is Loveless Academic Magnet Program (LAMP) High. Do an internet search on top high schools and it will consistently be mentioned. At various times it has been ranked #1 in the nation. New buildings, and technology are important in education, but they don't always speak to the quality of education that takes place behind those glitzy new walls . . .

Thomas Jefferson School of Math and Science out in VA takes names and whips azz son..

This new school is literally minutes from me across the county line. Didn't understand the need as the "old" North Atlanta looked about as good, if not better, than most high schools back in BR.

Millionaires and their off spring get what they want. Yall gotta understand Buckhead is generational money. Not new money. Raven Somone, Whitely and the list goes on. North Atlanta was originally Northside High until the name change.

I ride past it everyday, it used to be the old IBM facility. School even has a rifle range in it for the ROTC. It'll be attended by the kids off Mt. Paran and Paces Ferry, hell they probably took up a few donations to fund it with all of the money that's over there. It's like 5 stories high, yes it'll likely be one of the best schools in the south....it's huge. And it's not like they're lacking in the grades department either.
