What I Live By...
I just wanted to share this b/c I'm still tripping off it...

My tenant is moving...which is great, b/c I"m tired of him and the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA).

He is moving...along with his CHA voucher (new name for Section 8) to a "deluxe apartment in the sky" :|

According to him, he's moving into this building...
http://www.rmk.com/mcclurg/

He said he has one of the 854 sq.ft units,
http://www.rmk.com/mcclurg/floor_plans/default.aspx

"McClurg Court Center’s dramatic twin 45- story towers offer all that you can imagine. Every amenity is accessible through the convenience of an enclosed shopping concourse: 2 restaurants, a 24-hour convenience store, dry cleaners, bank, dental office, full service hotel and heated parking garage. The new resident Fitness Center includes state-of-the-art equipment and indulgences which include: swimming pools, tennis courts...everything that is necessary for the body and soul."

It's downtown Chicago, like three/four blocks from Navy Pier. I asked him what he was going to do for parking, he said he could get a spot for $254/month. I said, "I bet your ass find a way to pay that $254/month but you couldn't pay me $119/month" :emlaugh:

:|

I want to move to a deluxe apartment in the sky! :whine:

My cousin just got approved for her CHA voucher. She has no kids and no job.

WTF?! :banghead:

I wish they had that when I lived there!!! TRUST ME I was paying out the butt when I lived in McClurg Court way back in 1990-91!!

You wish they allowed Section 8 in McClurg Court? I asked him how was he able to get in there with Section 8...his reply, "b/c I'm a black man with good credit" :whatever: :lmao:

I want to say the building probaly doesn't know he/Section 8 is renting. Technically...it's between the tenant and the owner of the unit. All the owner of the unit has to do is provide his name/info so the building mgmt can run background checks, etc. But they don't have to know he has a voucher.

In DC, if a developer buys land from the city, they have to rerserve a certain number of units for low income patrons. You don't really hear them advertised though but they are there.

How can she do that with no job? Wouldn't the rent be too high?

Yeah...same here. That's what happened with this spot a the Presidential Towers.
"In 1992 a $160 million bailout and refinancing of the Presidential Towers stipulated that 5% of the apartments would be allocated to lower income families. Today there are only a small handful of apartments reserved for low-income families"

It's all bullshyt.

Nice pics but his probably gonna be decorated like this:

No...she got approved to receive a CHA voucher (new name for Section 8). But she has no kids and no job. I always ASSumed in order to receive a voucher (if you were a young woman with no disabilities, etc.) you had to have kids.

Aint shyt wrong with her.

But she got a voucher which, essentially, will pay part or all of her rent once she finds a place to live.

So like my tenant...when he lived in my unit, the rent was $1025 but CHA paid $906 and he only was responsible for $119 (that he never paid on time). So now when he moves to McClurg...according to the website the rent is $1700...so CHA will probably pay majority of that...if not all.

Oh naw...he had my place decked out better than how I had it decorated when I lived in the unit.

He came in with flat screen TV's, with the apple keyboard thingy to use on the TV, nice pictures on the wall, expensive kitchen gadgets, etc.

The problem with my unit was it was too small for him...and his baby mama, his son, and his mama, and all his shoes (he used to line them on the wall in the hallway ). It was only supposed to be him and his daughter every other weekend. I never saw her :noidea:

I don't know if there's a time limit on how long you can have one...

But the list just closed, so nobody can sign up now. :smh:

Here's what I posted in another thread:

I've seen ignorant retarded mofos rip doors completely off their hinges in a brand new secured luxury apartment complex so their friends could have easy access inside. All I can say, most of your section 8 apartments initially started off as expensive complexes, which are initially occupied by mostly White people and once these facilities become rundown and too expensive to maintain due the their initial occupants, typically minorities are the blame for their conditions.

If the complex is over 10 years old, I'm sure the owners are trying to find creative ways to lease apartments.
