Grambling loses two assistant football coaches

Bump all that. Grambling fired 2 assistants because Doug makes $250K+. Pearson was making $25K/year. I'm guessing Wilkerson was making no more than that since he was younger than Pearson and didn't play at Grambling like Pearson.

Pay Doug $200K and he keeps his assistants. Doug's fault, not Pete's.

He is making around 191K. But some of that is subsidized by the Blue Bengal Alumni Association or whatever they call themselves. I think maybe 60K of it is. I am sure GR and Robber can tell you better on how much the alums kick back in to pay Rick. But they have a cheap buyout of Comegy if they choose to. His contract is up this Fall I believe. JSU covered themselves pretty well with his contract.

I'm glad you feel that way. At least booger should know by now that his job would not be in jeopardy if he doesn't win another SWAC title. Glad to see you are looking out for y'all coach. :tup: :tup:

They hired a coach that coudlnt get a job at a JR High school.

When they were paying 200K a year in 2003, they thought it was the thing to do
Now that they cant afford to pay a decent coach decent money, its NOW the thing to do

Booger wanted job security but at the end of the day, if he continues to win, he will have a job on Lynch Street.

But again, that has nothing to do with JSU. JR helped you out.
 
So booger is a decent coach now. I wonder how much that coach at Delta State makes.
 
Damn you Worm, you spoiled booger's chance of being hired by FAMU. FAMU would never hire a coach that has a losing record against Southern's current coach.

The coach at Delta State is not a concern at JSU...and that coach didn't coach vs JSU. Comegy beat the former coach who is now at SELA. ..why don't ya'll play SELA and then worry about how much he makes? Oh, ya'll busy playing Clark-Atlanta. :snicker:

What's the relevance of that question. "Worm" is not SU. and by the time you fire "Worm", he will have a losing record vs JSU (like 1-2). You think a rookie coach like that can outperform a BCF living legend like Comegy?

Well in their defense. Comegy did that after his contract was signed and he knows he is not likely to get an extension since these ladies (Prez and AD) didn't hire him. So I imagine he has to win the SCG this year to get another extension. Should be interesting. A lot of folks in Jackson were not happy he "seemed" to beg for being a finalist for the FAMU job. You know that kind of thing don't go over well with our alums either at SU. Can't blame them. I think Rick was hoping if FAMU made him a finalist it would get JSU's attention to maybe want to extend his deal. But it looks like it may have backfired on him. But all he has to do is win and he will be at JSU unless he decides to leave on his own.

The last 2 pages on THIS thread has been about SU and JSU and how much they paid THEIR head coaches.
SU and JSU folks can't stick to subjects at hand.

Is Grambling planning to hire new coaches in their place is the main question at hand?

Good for them. I'm glad that they think that fat tub of lard of a coach is worth the money they are spending.

For how much? If this happened because of budget issues, I doubt they will find anyone to work for the amounts they were paying those guys....other than grad assistants working for fellowship $$$.

Uhh, if they're going to hire new coaches, what sense did it make to fire two recent coaches? Perhaps Doug will find a way to rehire by getting some extra dollars from fellow Gramblinites like Kenn, Mike Biggs and Soggy. I already know usa today ain't got no money.:emlaugh:
