Grambling loses two assistant football coaches

Is it really unusual for position coaches to be changed during the summer?

It may not be unusual but it can't help any. How are you going to teach your system and style in less than a month? One can only wonder why they didn't let these guys go during the Spring?
Perhaps they found more qualified coaches, but still...

Typically, when this happens over the summer, something has happened or been found out. Ya'll know that assistant coaches get fired in January and February.

This is due to Budget Cuts. They were not the only two people cut in athletics. It was a total of 5 people cut in the department.

Well that makes sense given that the new fiscal year is about to begin on Monday. This is a very bad sign for Grambling. Looks like ya'll need some money games quick. :snicker:

And Doug is still there making approximately $250k per year.

Exactly. Doug should have been willing to cut his salary to save his staff. How long is Doug's contract. Looks to me like they need to get a head coach for no more than $100-$125K. This is Pete's fault.

It's Southern's Board fault. They should have never approved that high salary for Pete without really knowing what they were going to get in return.

Pete was underpaid and under appreciated. He gave su it's first outright SWAC title in 30 years. Since his departure, su has zero titles.

Now does this mean that Grambling won't have an offensive line coach for the rest of the season or will someone have to pull double duty? Doug doesn't know anything about teaching an offensive line or defensive backs.
The offensive line is usually the backbone of the entire offense and effects the defense as well.

If I say shyt stinks, I bet you'll say it doesn't. BTW, how much did jsu pay Bell?

Too damm much...but this is a sign that HBCUs need to get smarter n terms of coaches salary. ...200k on the HBCU level is waaaayyy to much jus to win a SWAC title in lower tier conference in FCS.......
